It says 'this backup cannot be restored on the connected phone/tablet.
Just finished doing a system repair.
PLEASE HELP. I dont want to lose everything that I backed up.
Do you have the same device and operating system?
Did the system repair upgrade your device?
I dont know. I have the same device, I didnt ask it to upgrade my phone. I only did a software repair. This cant be happening.
If a system update was available then the system repair would auto update to that however the .dbk backup file you have - If you were to change the extension to say .rar or .zip then you could extract the contents and have access to music and photo's etc and other items like contacts but these can be a pain to sort however if these are sync'd to Google then they will auto add back to your device once you enter your details and turn on sync
Oh my word!?!??! why was I not told this earlier? I there nothing I can do about it now? I did do another backup on my SD card, will that work or not?
The backup has now disappeared on my sony PCC. Sigh.
So you have set up a password for it? You need to look for the .zip file as Thommo said and try to rename.
Also, please do not create other threads.
I forgot the password to the sd card back up. what do I do about the Pc companion? I have found the dbk files on my computer but how do I put them all back on my phone? why wasnt I told that pc companion would update my phone thus I wont be able to restore my stuff? is how sony treats their customers?
Why are customers not told that a software repair will also update your phone which means that you can not restore your original backup on the phone?
How many times will sony keep being oblivious and treating its customers like rubbish.
