Cannot start internet apps with WIFI

I have blocked data from my phone through my provider.  I tried to get to the internet through my wifi (and yes I connected it to my home router) but all I get is the blue background.  Nothing opens.  I have tried to use the youtube, facebook, even twitter app all I get is the default wall paper.   I updated my phone and still doesn't work.  What can I do?

http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/36836?tstart=0 Have a look on this related thread, and also make sure that in your Settings--Connectivity--Internet settings--(Internet profiles)--Allow local conn--this is set to Yes.

I've look at the related thread and I cannot even launch the interent browser I get the blue screen as well.  That thread also said to adjust the java settings but I don't know where to do that as well.  I didn't see it when I look through the settings.  When I go to internet settings there isn't a local connect setting.  It has a "home page" and "Connection point."  Under connection point it says defualt or create new.  When I open the Create new it gives the this: Name and APN.

Have you tried connecting to any other wifi networks  to see if the same thing happens? If that's the case, I suggest you perform a master reset and see if that does the trick. As for the connection point you mentioned, it should be set to Default for wifi connections.

I tried another wifi connection and it still does the same thing all I get is the blue background.  What will I lose if I do a master reset?

A master reset will wipe the phone memory and will reload the software back to its factory settings, so make sure you back up everything on PC, memory and SIM cards.
