Okay I am really hoping someone can help with this as the problem has plagued me since I got the phone new and since I sent it back for repair which appeared to fix the problem I have since discovered it didn't! I should have checked more thoroughly when I got it back!
So here is a summary of the issue I have:
So I have tried two band new 32GB SD cards as initially I thought I had been sold a dudd. I have formatted these in the phone and then when this has failed in a PC to FAT32. I can copy and read data to the cards fine in a PC reader so this would imply the cards are fine?
When I put them in the phone it is slow to detect and mount them but does eventually and sees them as the correct capacity.
However if I try to transfer data under the storage menu this fails immediately and says 'Transfer interrupted. Check your SD card for possibly transferred data'.
I was advise by support to try and install and standalone file manager which I did and this also failed to copy data to the card. Once again it can see the card and when you browse the card a load of random symbols show in the folder presumably where it has tried to start copying to it.
I have tried to reset the phone previously and this did not solve the issue either. Just a pain in the bum having to reinstall everything afterwards!
By chance I was trying again with the file manager App and happened to look under properties for the SD card where I noticed it said Read: True, write:False.
So I believe the issue is, for whatever reason, that the phone is seeing the card as read only even though it has no lock and I can clearly write to it when I put it in a PC.
I think that is all the info up to now. The problem is really getting me down on the phone and I do not really want to send it off again and be without a phone for a week and potentially be charged for a repair when one it has been like it since new and two if there is possibly something I can do to fix it myself with some guidance from someone on here.
Keeping my fingers crossed!
Thank you
Lee
I am sorry, but there could be problems with the cards you choose.Cannot you get a Sandisk, see how it goes?
Hello there.
I have the same problem here. I have tryed to use my 4gb microSD HC kingston that I was using in my previous LG optimus phone (without problem) and when I put it on my brand new XPERIA SP the phone started to freak out. Tried to format by pc, and by the phone as well but no way. The device cannot copy on the memory card, and when data are on it is ridicously slow in recalling them. Moreover, album often crasces as well once the sd card is in the device. I tryed to give my sd card to a friend that has a XPERIA Z1 and he could use it without problems. I tryed to use his Sony SD card and my phone did not even manage to see it...
So, I don't think its related with the SD card brand.
It still might be related. But of course the phone is the main "actor".
In my case I bought the phone a month ago: if I send it for assisance should be covered by the warranty, right?
Of course,send it right away.
They could charge you and send back the same phone. But you could change the service.
Did you go to a sony service?(if you did not go sony before).Or try another sony service,if the first one did not fix your issue.
