I just traded in my Xperia ZL for an LG Optimus G3 after having problem after problem. The signal would cut out constantly, the phone could not stay on for more than 5 minutes of use (would just shut down ) couldnt update firmare, calls would drop after a couple minutes etc.... Worst phone ive ever had.

I now have the LG and was told by the tech at the Kiosk that siging into my google account would restore my contacts. I tried signing in but no numbers showed up. I also tried exporting my contacts from my sim but unfortunately none seemed to be saved or I just didnt do it correctly.

I do however have a backup point for my Xperia but no longer have the phone. Im wondering if theres some way to retrieve the information manually through a notepad file or something? Is this possible?

I looked through the Sony folder on my computer but could not find the restore file. If I remember correctly its a CSV file but again, no sign of it.

Do I have any other options here? Thanks for the help in advance!:)

Change the backup extension from .dbk to .rar or .zip and extract the info - You will then be able to explore the folder and txt documents for your contacts but you will need to edit the documents and retype in your contacts manually

I managed to extract all the contents out of the file but I cant seem to find where the contacts are? Where can I find it?

If my memory serves me the txt file begings with a @ symbol that's about all I remember and it wasn't in a folder

Im looking through the folder I cant find any files begining with @. The only things in the folder are 2 folders one called Files and the other Applications. Theres 3 stray files out of the folder called phoneid, backupinfo, and script...none of which have any useful information.

I do know that the contacts were saved because I managed to restore them after a firmware update with the same backup file but used PC companion.

Any thoughts?
