can we use link2sd in 2.1 os. to send apps to sd. Instead of installing 2.2 /2.3. cant we directly partion sd and install link2sd.so those whose want to stay with 2.1 os can send apps to sd using link 2 sd. I also want to know how to partion sd card

After you have partitioned the SD card you just install Links2SD from Market/Play Store and then use it as you wish.
I also was once in your position but I decided not to partition my SD card as it can decrease its reliability. Don't ask me how, I just learnt that from XDA forums. Instead I done a lot of research and installed a custom ROM, GingerDX-which supports moving apps to SD by default.
