can't update xperia e1

having problems updating my sony xperia e1. It's all ok until i get to the part where I have to: 1. disconect the phone from the pc; 2. check if the fone has 50% or more batery life; 3. turn of the phone; 4. conect the phone to the pc while pressing the volume down button. Everything if fine until I get to step 4..I connect the phone while pressing the volume down button and nothing happens...if I try to restart the phone I have to take out the battery and put it back in because otherwise the phone is not responding. Any idea what to to??

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

Just to make sure, you let the phone be turned off during the whole process? Also press and hold the volume down button up to 1 minute. 

If you still experience the same issue, try with Update Service instead of PC Companion (or vice versa).

thanks for the tips but they are not working. I tried everything and still can't update the phone. Every time it's the same. When i have to connect the phone to the pc and press the volume down button nothing happens...I think the phone is damaged or something like that..

Hi, sorry for my late response, I have been out of the office for a few weeks. 

Do you still having problem with updating the phone? In that case I would suggest that you first of all try to update the phone using another USB cable or another computer.
