Can't import contacts

i have a problem with my contacts. all my contacts are gone. when i try to import from sim card it keeps failing.

Do you receive any type of error message when you try to import your contacts from the SIM-card?

You can also check the filter for your contacts so you have not marked/unmarked something unwanted. Go to Contacts > Menu-button (the bottom right corner) > Filter.

yeah. it tries to do it and i get a progression bar up but half way through it come up with " unfortunately, contacts import has stopped". yeah ive tried the filters but everything is how it should be

Sounds strange. You could try to clear data for Contacts and Contacts storage under Settings > Apps > The tab "All" > Contacts/Contacts storage > Clear data.

Note that this will clear your phonebook and might erase your filter settings. Don't forget to back up your contacts to internal storage/SD-card.

But if the problem persist, I suggest that you try to import contacts from another SIM-card to see if you get the same error message.

no luck. i cleared the data and tried to import again but same error message. tried with different sim still not doing it and again same message

If you have added a Google account to your phone, you will get the option to create contacts under a specific account. Have you tried to import contacts to both Phone contacts and a Google account?

Otherwise, a software repair via Update Service would be recommended:

Download and install SUS, follow the instructions that appear.

ok ive just tried to add contacts to google account and again the same error message. ive only had phone 3 months. really annoying that this haas happened.
