Can't access internal storage on the PC - Xperia P

Hi there,

I seem to have lost the ability to access the contents of my internet storage when connected to a PC, even though the Xperia P shows the "internal storage connected" as a notification.

Most of the times my Computer doesn't display the Xperia P icon. Sometimes it does, but then I can't see the "Internal storage" folder for the Xperia P. Less frequently I am able see the "Internal Storage" icon, showing the used and free space, but then it contains no folders.

I've tried 3 different PCs all with the same result (Win XP, Vista and 7), which makes me believe this is an issue related to the phone and not PC OS related.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Tried that right now in Vista (XP was magically working a few hours ago, but most likely won't be tomorrow...)

In Vista, one thing is quite weird after installing PCC and SUS and connecting the phone. The installed drivers are for a generic MTP device and a weird sa0104 driver. LT22 is not listed in device manager.

Any clues? It is not working in Vista.

Did you try removing the drivers, PCC and SUS like i said before or you tried it only in Xp?
Also is USB Debugging on? I see the ADB Driver installed. It shouldn't be on (if it's already on). Might sound silly but try once turning on the USB Debugging and off while it's connected.

I tried removing the drivers, PCC and SUS for both XP and Vista. I tried right now once again in XP with administrator privileges and the hardware installation dialog says that an error has occured and the hardware might not work as expected.

I always have USB debugging on. This time I tried to turn it off and on again while connected, with no results. I'll try later on in Vista with USB debugging off in the first place...

Here's a screenshot of what I now get under XP.

When I plug the USB cable, the LT22i is instantly recognized by XP under Portable Devices in device manager. The phone takes a few minutes to show the Internal storage connected notiification, but even then internal storage contents are not shown (I can't even see the Xperia icon in "My Computer").

Any clues?

What should I do? Update to ICS? I got no notification on the phone to upgrade yet.

Create another user on the Windows PC you're using and try there.
If it doesn't, perform a repair via SUS or PCC.
Your last option is to send it to a Sony Service to see if there's a problem with the device.

Create another user on the Windows PC you're using and try there - I guess that wouldn't work since I've already tried with three different PCs.

If it doesn't, perform a repair via SUS or PCC. - a repair will delete the phone's memory. Will updating to ICS also do it? If so, I will have to do it nevertheless when updating to ICS. Is ICS available to upgrade via OTA like the 6.0 GB versions were?

Your last option is to send it to a Sony Service to see if there's a problem with the device - not really an option Winking_Face everything works when I'm using MyPhoneExplorer - even via USB...
