Can only charge using the supplied USB-C cable

I can only charging my xperia X compact using the supplied USB C cable. I have tested 2 different cables, the phone shows the charging symbol but it stays at 0%.
What can the problem be?

Some USB cables come with inferior quality, and their power transmission does not work as intended. Sony always advises their users to use original cables and chargers.

Bear in mind that if you totally depleted your phone's battery to 0%, it might need more time on charge while turned off to be able to start again.

Welcome to the community,

Sorry for the inconvenience you have had with the battery, however, the above statement is correct, in some cases, the handset may not show charge for around 30 minutes,this includes the LED light not showing. 

Generally, this only happens when a device has been completely drained.

I hade the phone plugged in for over one hour and the graphic of the battery was showing and the red bars where mening but the it container showing 0%

I have exchanged one of the cables and the new one works however the mechanical interface dosnt feel as solid as the Sony cable.
It seems as I hade the misfortune tog buy 2 bad cables from 2 different source.

@Eklöf You are best to speak with Customer Care in regards to getting a genuine cable. The cable should also be covered under the phone's warranty. But please note warranty is different country to country.
