Can I downgrade back to 4.1.2??

So I'm really not liking the 4.2.2 upgrade. It's the phone UI on a tablet..... A tablet is NOT a phone. I want the soft buttons back in the corner so landscape is more thumb friendly and notifications back where they were so I don't have an added black bar along the top. The new features I'm not bothered about as I don't use them, so is there a way to reflash 4.1.2 on my Australian wifi edition??

Thanks.

This update is absolutely horrible in terms of UI. This can't be the usability Sony expects us to be satisfied with. If they are not going to do anything about it then I guess it is up to the consumer to fix the problem they caused. 😕 Do they even test these things before they release?

Absoutely agree. 4.2 takes up too much screen sapce on top and bottom and always stays on. This is very annoying.

In contrast, 4.1 puts home buttons on the left corner and status buttons on the right corner and takes up minium space but sufficient clear, and these bars are gone automatially  or invisible whenevenr you open an application for a full screen. You know that's enough to see  home ans status bars in a home screen. That's nice feature. Why 4.2 totally ignores this? Downgrade to 4.1.2 or simply return Xperia tablet.

I agree with all the above, Sony please your customers with a fix
The lock screen now has functions I can't get rid of
The "unlock slide up down" is on the RH side. Really annoying as I'm left handed
The notification bar at the top is a waste of space and not needed.
The home button being centered is annoying especially as the Remote function is now an extra key press away
The small keyboard option is a nice idea, but again it's fixed on the RH side so no good for a left hander.
Please Sony these may seem like minor gripes but given this is a new flagship product problems such as this are not good for customer loyalty.
I'm looking forward to hearing about how this is going to be resolved

Update:

Will most likely have to wait for stock update with next version from Android for Sony to address. In the meantime, below worked for me (UK version).

Successfully downgraded to 4.1.2 following instructions posted earlier in this thread (thanks!)

Use japanese file and then choose appropriate language on start-up. This is for SPG311 (wifi only)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2245774 - worked for me

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2402863 - German file but should be same as above and choose language

This will not work for wifi with SIM card (Tablet Z LTE) you will need to find ftf file for SPG312.

If in doubt, remember to backup firmware first - further instructions here  http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z-ZL-ZR/How-to-manually-update-downgrade-root-2013-Xperias/td-p...

This does highlight the need to perform sufficient user testing and feedback before releasing future updates. Hope Sony will do going forward.

Hi,

I agree the upgrade is awful and would like the soft button back where they were,

so to encourage Sony a little,

Here what the reviews should say

Great machine just DON'T upgrade the software. Stick with 4.1

As i understand it, the "tablet ui" has been removed from Android 4.2 so the layout is now more similar to that of a phone. I can forward your feedback but as this is what Android 4.2 looks like i don't think there will be any change.

Completely agree!

The 4.2.2 update has a phone interface layout!

I don't like it, I would like to regret to 4.1.2...

Sony please fix the situation!

A tablet must have a tablet interface!

This will invalidate the warranty?
