Hi,

I recently bought Xperia Z1.  I still keep discovering the bundle of new features and very thoughtfully tailored software and user interface developments over its predecesor.  

At the sametime, Sony doesnt reveal the truth about the camera that Superior Auto mode can take only a maximum of 8MP photos.  In Manual mode only you can take 20.7 MP cameras.  Still, comapred to the auto configuration of Superior Auto mode, however you tweak the settings in Manual Mode, the results are not that satisfactory.  Why is this?  Also, in Manual mode, you get to change the photo quality from 20.7 to directly down to 8 MP.  there are no intermediate sizes available.  In this way, I feel Xperia Z is way better.  

Will Sony release any further Softare and Firmware upgrades, which would enhance the Camera experience?

Hmm, I think it is actually up to personal preference. I like the 8MP 4:3 photos better than the 20.7MP or Superior Auto ones.

I'm hoping that Sony will add future enhancements to both the camera app and firmware upgrades that will improve the Z1 image processing (IMO its pretty good now though, just needs to control the noise / ISO boosts). Also hoping that the camera app will have more manual settings available to them.

In the meantime, maybe you can take a look at this thread and check if something new or good settings come out:

And why the can't you change the resolution to something smaller than 8MP on 'auto superior' mode.

I don't have a need for 8mp pictures all the time. Who needs a 8mp of their breakfast. NO BODY.

they just did with the new firmware that is rolling out. I installed it with flashtool... camera now is better than earlier... less noise and artifacts. Pretty good I guess.

I have my problem with a camera specifically the AR effect? Before taking the shot ang looking to the screen it seems bright and okay but when i start capturing it eh real image seems to be dark and only the AR effect seems to be bright.

Is that normal?

Omg right?! Why is the final picture different from the preview before you take it. Makes no sense.

I don't know i think my phone has a defect. Ampf!!! This phone worth to much of money and then this is what i have to many problems.

A new Firmware 14.1.G.2.257 is avialable for Xperia Z1, Sony claims to improve image quality with that firmware update. A lot of people also saying that image quality has improved with that firmware update. So you are adviced to try that Update & Let us know about your experience.

Why 16:9 only 8mp? mathematicly they should be able to do around 15.3mp. Now I have to crop pictures from 4:3 to have wallpaper quality...

Please fix this sony!
