Camera - xperia s - focusing problems and poor images

Firstly this phone is fantastic and I have already conmverted several friends from apple to sony.

Last night I though I would really test it out - went out with a few mates, each with different phones and every time the Nokia N8 took better pictures.

Honestly - my xperia took ages to focus and 5 out of 9 shots were very very poor. In direct comparision the N8 - once he had it set up, took photos faster and each one was in focus - non of this waiting while it figures out what its doing,.

In day light - mine wins no problem - in pubs and low light areas I found this phone to have major problems with focus, and tiime delay in pressing and actual capture of images --- dont get me wrong - I can take it out of my pocket - press the button and hey presto - a photo very very quick --but what is the point when its not in focus and then I have to try again, then again, by which time, my mates are laughing as they have unlocked their phone, aimed and took a good photo.

SONY -- please look into this --  is this my handset or systemic?

Looking at the response this is systemic - if this is a software issue then please sort it, if hardware - recall and replace.

For those of you with the problem - the best photos I can get are to disable face detection, scenes to OFF,,focus mode - have it on touch or infinity, metering centre. At least on these settings I get more than 1 out of 10 photos which I can use.

THIS IS STILL AN ISSUE!!! SONY PLEASE RESPOND!

i was checking the thread and saw nobody posted any inside party videos yet so dicided to post some to compare as the brigtness levels gets really high changes from almost dark to owerbright.

the camera isnt still most of the time and i think the focus is doing a preatty good ( but not perfect ) job specialy in this conditions. ( phone shaking , bad lighthing, dinamic lightning ).

But there is still a lot of grain on movies and also on pictures, but normaly i dont get focus problems even in dark area's also the capture rate is fast.

Iam sure if filmed like this even with a proffesional camera things woudnt be mutch better 😜 even the sound capture is amazing most of my old mics on phones got overwhealmed.

I have tested auto-focus a bit and decide for yourself.

The only reason why I bought this phone is that I thought that the separation of the Sony and Ericsson could make things better and do much more improvement on their devices. I sold my Arc S just because I hated its camera which didn't function as it was supposed to be. I was pretty impressed by the design of the brand new flagship phone of Sony: Xperia S. But that is all, truly is just the design. No other thing from this phone that makes me not regretful of spending money for it. Since the day I got this in my hand, only bunch of disappointment it offers: let's say from the yellow tint issue (which is the worst); the useless transparent bar which I thought it could notify me of incoming messages and calls instead of just merely blinking as I press the buttons; the not-so-responsive capacitive buttons; the fact that I can only wake the phone up from the power button; the fact that I still have to press the camera button for a long time to go to the camera mode even when the phone's awake; weak battery; and of course, the focusing problem--which exasperates me half to death.

I am one of your loyal customers. I'd had six types of phones from your company, and I'd never felt so this disappointed before. At this point I'm starting to think that I deserve to get my money back.

I want and support Sony to be as successful as the brand from South Korea but I doubt it will if Sony just keeps silents (no official Sony moderator has given a solution in this thread until today; all I know that it's said that it's still being investigated) and let us, the customers, wait for more a long time.

You see?, That's what im talking about. why they wont answer that question??? but if you ask any less important question (like "when do i get my phone back?") they are there for you right away. But for important thing like this they will NOT give us an answer! @Msiddhpura: they do read but do not answer, that's all. And we deserve answers.

I agree, the only official answers on this are

1) that this will be send back to the developers (forum)

and

2) that Sony developers are already aware of this (google plus chat)
