Hey everybody, I'm an owner of a z1 (c6903) too and the camera was a little disappointment for me too. This topic made me a little unsecure and I hope you guys would take the time to look at these two pictures and tell me if they look technically good and if this is what I should expect for a camera like this. Both are manual iso100. Thanks allot!

I don't see anything wrong with both of them. You shot them with full resolution, so there are some little white artifacts in darker areas, but overall they are what they should be.

You can easily get rid of those artifacts by switching to 8Mp or auto. Plus, in 8Mp (both manual and auto mode) you can play with HDR which will make a big difference, especially against direct sunlight.

May I ask what disappoint you about this camera? I am purely curious. I have seen many phones with cameras (including new Samsung/nokia/apple phones) and so far this performs great enough to be on the podium.

Now this is an interesting seen here normally dpr is very critical toward sony but in this particular instance the Z1 came a second to the 1020. As I told you all tech sites will compare the Z1 to the best but what is interesting is that we're rated the best cam on the android platform.http://connect.dpreview.com/post/4485507296/shootout-sonyxperiaz1-vs-nokia1020-vs-lgg2-vs-samsunggal... take a look it's interesting.

remember guys that when you select the 8mp output for the camera it is still using the full 20mp sensor to produce the image it just has more data to play with and give a perfect output - that is why SA uses 8mp output - it uses a lot of clever processing to produce that perfect image, you can manually select 20mp as output but you have a lot of work to do to produce that perfect image both pre and post process

The key to thinking about the SA 8mp output is that it's still 20mp input but all the hard work is done for you to produce a perfect picture - hope this helps

Hi I have had a Z1 since launch day and and have been really unimpressed with the camera since the start. I have tried everything from changing setting to full factory resets etc. The problem is picture quality is very low and pixelated images are also very noisey and blurred. Anyone experiencing similar problems or are people happy with there Z1. Apart from that its an awesome smartphone and I have no other issues.
