Call Quality

Call Quality

Just got a Xperia Z2 and the call quality is atrocious on both ends. I've reset the phone 2 times and it still sounds worse than any phone I've had for 10+ years. No difference between HSDPA and LTE. I've read about many other users with the exact same problem, is there any fix or should I return it for a phone that I can actually use as a phone?

It is difficult to be heard both at other end of the phone and at sony service centre . I have problem with Z2 phone which i purchased 12 days ago . Initially on day one there was too much noise and other person could not hear me at all , even after enabling microphone noise suppression . After first visit to service centre the phone was kept for a day and software upgraded . I found the reproduced sound quality to be better but voice was still not clear , it sounded very hoarse at other end. Within 24 hrs. I once again gave it to service centre but after keeping it there for seven days they returned back saying they did not find any problem. So I have no option but to continue with defective mic and everyone has hard time to hear me . Software upgrade , Microphone noise suppression , changing SIM card do not help . Any suggestions please ..

Same thing here - people keep complaining about sound quality and I've had quite some clients canceling calls because of it... Solution??

Noise supression doesn't really change anything (not for better or worse) from my experience with the phones I tested with (Galaxy S4/Nexus 5). Although I tested it in a noise-free enviroment, it might work if there is some actual noise going on Slightly_smiling_Face

Speaker voice enhancement makes it even worse, it literally sounds like listening from a tin can phone.

Recordings with the microphone is very good, and if I use a headset the problem disappears completely. Only calls are affected.

This is why I will never buy a Sony handset again.

The Z2 call quality is a fail.

No amount of software updates or factory restores will help. It's dreadful.

I've been trying to get my network to unlock it so I can at least try to sell it but without any luck - they can't seem to do it.

Yeah I can't grasp how a mobile phone passes QA with this bad call quality. I returned my Z2 yesterday because I don't see any fix ever coming. Too bad, I really liked the phone otherwise.
