C902 dead

My C902 will not turn on.

I turned it off last night (as a good citizen trying to conserve energy and save the planet) and this morning it will not restart.

When pressing the 'Power' button, the blue light in the camera button is lit, as well as some of the number keys.

It vibrates briefly  but then nothing more happens. The screen is black.

I have tried the following:

  • Removed the battery and inserted it again after (various alternative attempts): 5 sec; 1 min; 1 hour; 24 hours
  • Cleaned the connectors using a q-tip and non-fragrant alcohol: fastport, battery connectors on battery and inside of the phone itself
  • Checked the battery in other phone (OK)
  • Checked the power plug (OK)
  • Tried to charge via USB connected to computer

NB

The phone will charge for a minute or two, but then it stops charging. I have to remove and re-insert the power plug intom the phone again to make it resume charging.

  • Installed the latest SEUS (OK) on my PC
  • Checked the phone firmware to be latest release (by pressing 'C' while connecting the USB cable to the computer), (OK, that is what the SEUS told me anyway)

This last part was actually very tricky since the phone-PC connection was erratic to say the least, and it took almost ten attempts to succeed to check the firmware.

Using PC Companion to update/check the firmware does not work since the phone will be disconnected by the software. Use SE Update Service, if you are trying this.

I have NOT done the following:

  • Taken it to a SE Service Centre (no longer valid warranty, phone is 'too' old AND I guess they would flash it)
  • Flashed it (too many important files on the phone memory I don't want to lose if avoidable)

Some suggestions found on the internet are:

  • Corrupted EROM
  • Corrupted bootloader

So if anybody has a solution, please share.

If you have the same problem, track this discussion and please do not write comments like "I also have this problem". I know other people have this problem.

Any replies suggesting the following will be reported as SPAM since I already have tried it to no avail:

  • Charge the battery
  • Udate the firmware/phone
  • Connect the phone to a computer

Please advice.

Have u tried doing a repair with pc companion or SEUS? I guess u shud take it to a service center, naturally when u repair or update the phone u will lose all data on ur phone unless u had done a backup,

http://www.fjsoft.at/en/downloads.php Since the battery still has some charge, you can try re-installing the software using SEUS, or a phone repair using PC Companion ( Support zone). Both these processes require that the phone is switched off, which will wipe the phone memory, so try backing it up using My Phone Explorer, from the above link, or using PC companion.I don't know whether this will work, because both these applications normally require the phone to be switched on and in USB Phone mode, for backing up purposes.

Re-installing using SEUS doesn't work. The application tells me the phone has the latest software and that's it. No options are provided to force an installation.

Another issue with SEUS is that this application hangs my PC 9 times out of 10 when I try to connect the phone (and requires a hard reboot of the PC).

Using PC Companion to perform a repair doesn't work. The application doesn't recognise that the phone is connected (remember that I cannnot turn the phone on). Although pressing 'c' while connecting the phone USB, the application prompts me to connect the phone (it is already connected).

Using MyPhoneExplorer doesn't work, since it requires that the phone is turned on (which I cannot do, see original post).

If someone has a solution, I will be very grateful.

Please, read the original post before answering.

Then I can only suggest that you try rebooting the PC with the phone connected to try and force a phone repair with PC companion, with the phone switched off of course.Failing that, you will need to send it in to a repair centre.

1.

Booting PC with phone connected resulted in nothing

2.

Performing a phone repair with PC Companion only results in the message (something like this) "There is no software for your phone yet. Check back later".

Hmmm. This model is a couple of years old, so I would think there should be some software available. If not an updated version so at least the original.

Well 'Rand',

Accept my condolence for  your dead mobile!!!

I hope it's soul rest in peace.....:smileysad:

But I know the way to make it alive again.

This is the time when you have taken the role of a good citizen trying to conserve energy and save the planet a bit too seriously  So seriously that the next day your mobile was 'DEAD'.

"......It vibrates briefly  but then nothing more happens. The screen is black"

Now just follow each and every step I tell you otherwise your mobile would remain dead foreever:

1. Just reflash it with "Omnius" or "Wotanserver" and it would become alive again.

2. Google these online softwares.

3. Registration is free and compulsory to use these softwares.

4. Install flash drivers and then connect to your computer through any of these softwares.

5. Read on there particular sites for instructions on how to operate them.

6. The last, but the most imp step of them all. Leave a reply with "THANKS" for me, when your mobile start working once again.

Don't use 'SEUS' or 'PC Companion they won't work.

And this time "Don't conserve so much energy"  :smileywink:!!!

http://davinciteam.co.uk/C902_en_index.html You can also use Davinci to reflash the phone with one of the available software versions.

Thanks for the tips on how to flash the phone. This is something I'd like to avoid since I have LOTS of valuable data stored on the phone memory and this was stated in the original post.

I have sent the phone for a forensic examination (not the CSI version but a digital counterpart) and hopefully they can recover the files. When I get the results from that, somewhat hardcore, attempt to salvage two years worth of digital/mobile life, I will definitely flash the phone.

Updates will come when I have more info of the progress (in a week or two).

EDIT:

They couldn't recover anything from the phone. It apparently suffers from locked-in-syndrome and has said goodbye tothis world.

Now I will try to flash it using some of the software mentioned above.
