Hi,
I bought my phone two weeks ago and I'm already facing an issue.
I'm able to reproduce a bug with auto-rotation using the last update available (Android 5.1.1 I guess). To reproduce it, ensure you use Sony's stock launcher. Disable auto-rotation in settings (force portrait mode). Go back to home. Rotate the phone. It rotates despite the option.
How to workaround this ? Will there be a fix for this ? Thank you.
Gilbs
I tested this here but it doesn't happen for me.
Do you have a magnetic charger connected when testing this?
Thank you for your answer Rickard. You are right ! It happens only when the magnetic charger is plugged. So the issue is really minor. But I think it shouldn't happen, or there should be at least an option to disable that.
Thank you again,
Gilbs
Glad we could figure it out
I will forward it as feedback but i believe this is how it's designed to work. The magnetic charging connector is made for our docking stations (we don't sell any magnetic charging cables) and when you connect a charger to this port it will also set Android in docking mode. This is why you may see apps reloading themselves when you connect a charger to this port. It's Android going to docking mode.
Hi,
I'm also experiencing this rotation problem, even when I don't use a magnetic charger it still doesn't rotate...
I've found if i turn off auto-rotate and then turn it back on it starts working for a short period of time but soon enough, it stops agian.
This is really frustrating.....I've had the phone for almost a year now and I've only noticed this problem since the last update. Please fix it... I've also recently factory reset the phone.
ps. Just realised post heading, I'm using the Z3 (not compact). I also see numerous other posts on the internet about this problem.
Regards,
Jaime
Could you please try if this also happens when the phone is in safe mode?
I've been testing this here but i can't find any issue with auto rotation so it may perhaps be related to an app running in the background.
If it also happens in safe mode i recommend that you try to reinstall the phones software using PC Companion but please note that this will reset your phone and delete all your data so first make a backup of any data you want to save.
I have been having this same issue ever since the update in August. Its not linked with the docking connector, happens in normal use. If I flip the phone from portrait to landscape a few times it starts working again for a short time. Factory reset fixed it for a short time. I'm writing this on a z3 compact tablet which is on same version, with similar apps, but the issue isn't there. Main difference between apps on phone and tablet are phone also has Fitbit, Pebble and Endomondo. These shouldnt affect autorotate though surely? Its mainly happening when viewing pictures and videos. I hope there is a fix for it soon as it has been months, and it is very annoying (and sometimes embarrassing as I show my phone to customers often to display images). Its actually making me consider other phines, and I'm a long time Xperia fan.
I should have said, Z3 Compact phone is my model with issues...
