Bridge for mac, xperia e

Can I update an Xperia E with bridge for mac?  At the moment when I connect the phone, the backup option is greyed out.  I read elsewhere on the forum that I may not be able to back up if the phone's memory is too full.  How full, exactly, is too full?

I really need to be able to back the phone up, as whenever I turn it on I get an error message saying that the SystemUI has stopped

You can update with Bridge but if the option to backup is not available then you may be able to connect your phone your Mac and transfer the files that way - For other things then use an app to create a back up file for transfer

Hi Anon2,

You are right that the backup option might be greyed out due to the phone memory being to full. To answer your question: it varies from phone to phone, which might not be the answer you were looking for.

The phone is a Sony Xperia E C1505, build no. 11.3.A.2.13, running Android 4.1.1.  Do you have any idea what might be causing the system UI to crash?  I've tried restarting it in safe mode, but the problem still occurs.  I've been planning to do a factory reset, but I wanted to back it up first - is this likely to solve the problem?

Hi Anon2,

I'm afraid I can't help you with the UI problem. I will forward your phone information to the development crew and see if I can get you an answer about the backup not working. You could try removing the SD card or replacing it with another one in the mean time, I assume it's the actual phone data you care the most about?

Yes, the phone memory is what I'm trying to save.  I've already uninstalled almost all the apps I installed, but that hasn't freed up enough memory for the backup option to work...

Do you know where I can get info about the UI problem?

Try posting in the Xperia E section of the forum, and link to this thread. That should get you a quicker response than in the PC & Mac software section.
