Bluetooth Problems ARC S Android 4

Hello,

after the Update to Android 4 I can not pair my Arc s with Toyota Avensis Bluetooth (2010). With the old Android 2.3.4 everything works fine. After searching the Toyota Bluetooth Kit and I try to Connect I get a message "FAILURE" from the Toyota Bluetooth Kit. I try to repair the Phone with Companion but the problem is still the same. I can not connect the Arc S with the Bluetoot Kit.

Sony Support doesn't know the Problem. Has anybody these Bluetooth isue too? Does anybody know how I can solve the Problem?

Thanks for your Help

Are you able to make any resets on the Bluetooth car kit?

Do you get anything in the notification bar asking you to confirm the pair when trying to connect, some users miss that. Maybe that could be the issue? It times out.

Hi Johan,

I can only delete the pairings in the Bluetooth Kit what I did before I wrote in this Support Forum.

To pair a phone I have to do the follwoing with Toyota Kit:

1. Choose Pairing a new Phone on the Kit

2. Search with Arc S the Bluetooth Kit

3. After Arc S notify that it has found the Kit I click to pair on Arc S - next step should be enter the pairing code but the phone doesn't ask for the pairing Code

NOW I get the Message FAILURE from the Car Kit.

I tried to do the pairing faster or slowlier - after the click on Arc S to the Bluetooth Kit I get always the FAILURE. So I don't think I have a timeout (Toyota Kit waits more then 30 Seconds before it stop the pairing normally)

I can not search a phone with the Bluetooth Kit like other's as VW etc. I have to search the Kit with the phone. Perhaps there is anything not correct....

Thank in Advance for your help.

hello,

the exact same thing happens when trying to pair ArcS with nokia's CK-15W. there is no notification...

with 2.3.4 everything worked fine, phone asked for the passkey, and devices paired

you can easily find people reporting similar (or the same) problem - after upgrade to 4.0, phone does not prompt for the bluetooth code while attempting to pair with handsfree sets

maybe sony plans to issue a patch? or maybe there is another solution? (apart from changing HF set or car Winking_Face )

best regards,

Tomek

I wouldn't count on Sony coming up with a quick fix or even patch for this issue, as their was a Blue Tooth issue reported last November and it still hasn't been addressed.

There was some talk that maybe, just maybe ICS was going to address these issues, but obviously not.

The only other solution, is to call your Xperia support centre and get them to take your handset in and have it rolled back to GB to have it all working again.

I am going through this process for a second time, as the first time the engineers never read the instructions provided by Xperia Support and updated my handset, instead of rolling it back to an older OS than was supplied on the handset at new.

I have also suggested in the past that Sony starts to provide ALL new handsets with a DVD copy, image file of the original OS provided on the handset at time of purchase, so in the even that an update does not work out for us, then we can simply roll the handset back ourselves.  Or, have an online facility to roll back the OS ourselves again, as it is too inconveniant to keep sending the handset away all the time.

Hello Johan,

you have written in another Thread (http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/193972#193972) that the developers are working on this Problem. Is there any possibility to let us know when Sony could fix this issue? I have to use my mobile in the Car, in Germany we have to pay 40 Euro if we have a call without handsfree....

Thanks in Advance.

That's correct. And as soon as I have more info about this I will get back to you all but probably not in all threads. Because there are a lot of threads about the same issues and then I will most likely only post in the largest one's.

This came to my attention on another forum and i hvae to say, thinking about the contetn, it is near to 100% accurate.

The people that actually make the bluetooth for Land Rover are Nokia and it takes three years to develope and test and then get the units past for fitting, so the software is probably out of date even before the module gets fitted to the vehicle.

The largest issues lie with the Mobile Handset manufacturers accross the board. As in, the phone manufacturers should make the things compatible with the standards. Phones changes are more frequentl than cars, and have a much shorter development cycle, lifespan.

I think i may have found part of the reason we are having these issue with Bluetooth pairing.

It would seem that for all the ARC S looks like an Arc S from another country (sit them side by side and tell the difference), they are not the same, nor are they even the same handset in the same county.

Apparantly, not all software versions are available in for speaking sakes the UK.  As each phone provider specifies and has different software updates made available to their specific networks.

I had been looking for GB 2.3.4 for a Galaxy S i have (spare phone) and Samsung came back to me saying the following,

Can you please inform us what network you asre using as not all providers released this update?

If you require any further assistance, please contact Samsung again and we will be more than happy to help.

Kind regards

So, is this something similat to how Sony, SE operates in regards to OS on the handsets?

After upgrading to ICS my xperia neo no longer connects to bluetooth of car (Alfa Romeo Blue&me). does not display the input to enter the code for pairing. On the Internet I saw that many people have similar problems, even with ray and arc with blue&me. With android 2.3.4 it works. The handsfree is very important for me to spend 2 hours a day by car, both for safety and penalties: in Italy are from 74 € to 299 € and subtract 5 points to the license.
