Block & Unblock Problems - Black Screen

Hello!

I´m very frustrated.  Everytime I block the screen (also happens when autoblock turns on), when I hit either key to unblock the screen (where you then have to slide the finger to completely unblock the phone), the screen stays black.  A small white light turns on behind the keys below the screen, and the screen "lightly" lights up, but basically it´s a black screen.  Ring volume can be changed using the side buttons, but the screen is black.

I sent the phone for repairs (bought it early March, and have phone insurance) through the place I bought the phone (The Phone House, in Spain), and picked it up last night.  They said that they did not find a problem, and updated the phone (I often check for updates, so not sure if true...).  They had totally reset the phone and had started up the 1st time with no problems.

But today, again the phone is doing it again.  It goes for quite a few minutes each time, though the day I sent it for repairs, it was like that for about 6 hours straight.

My wife bought the same phone, and I had tried changing batteries.  Nothing.

I was going to call Sony, but found this forum.  I hope I get better help here, as I´m quite frustrated.  Especially since I like this phone so much and use it practically every minute I´m awake.  hehe  Thanks for any help provided!!

delete antivirus, taskkillers, and battery apps, see if that solves your problem

Thanks for the quick reply!

I have AVG Antivirus installed (1st 2 you mention) and Battery Info (believe that´s the name).  I´ve uninstalled the battery app when I saw your reply soon after you replied.  I blocked the screen and am still awaiting for the screen to "unblock".  Uffff..  As soon as it lets me, I will uninstall the AVG app, which I noticed my wife never got to installing in her phone (trying to see diferences..).

Hopefully that is the answer... but obviously I need the phone to unblock... uffff

I´ll come back with new info ASAP, and of course, will rate your reply, too.  I´m not sure if I hit "Helpful answer", that I´ll be able to hit "Correct Answer" if that becomes the case.  : *

Again, thanks for helping....

I finally was able to unblock the screen and uninstalled the virus program.  Blocked the screen and same error.  After awhile, it finally let me use it again and I powered down.  Even took the battery out and restarted.  Same problem.

Ufffff   I´m thinking of reseting the phone manually, though really have no clue if that matters.  I´m looking at apps I have that my wife doesn´t, and don´t see anything special.  I´m lost.

Would giving any details of my phone and what I have installed matter on helping me easier? I know that it can be hard when not physically having the device in hand.

Thanks for the attention.  Slightly_smiling_Face

All of that did nothing.  I finally decided to do a Factory Reset when I woke up.  For awhile, all was going fine.  Everytime I installed something, I´d do the block/unblock routine.  All good, but for some reason, without having installed anything new.  The problem came back.

Seeing all the complaints about LiveWire (forced Sony app), I uninstalled all updates, but nothing new.

Have no clue what to do now.  I´m basically feeling that I got a "bad tomato" and will try to get a replacement.  Uffff...

Any new ideas on how to fix it??  Thanks!

what do you mean by "blocking the screen"?

"Blocking the screen" by tapping the power button.  Unblocking by either tapping it again or hitting the "home" button.

I just removed the battery and SIM card and put them back in... restarted... and there´s the black screen.  Can´t even enter the PIN, etc.  ufff
