Blank screen when making calls

Blank screen when making calls

I've had my Xperia Play R800i for a year and a half now, and after about 14months I thought I'd reset it to default to clear up some of the clutter.  Since then, whenever I make a call the screen won't wake-up, and none of the buttons function (even sliding the gamepad out), which means I can't use automated phone menus, and I've got to pull the battery out to hang up a call.

I've sent it off to Sony twice for repair, and they can't find anything wrong.  I've asked for them to replace it, but the warranty only covers service.  I've asked the company I bought it from to replace it, but they say they can't get any stock of it anymore.

So, I'm stuck with my amazing Xperia Play that fails at making a basic phone call.  Any help would be amazing!  (ps. I've repaired it using the pc companion, and reset it a couple more times, but still have the same issue.  Also, it's not rooted yet... although I figure that might be my last hope.)

Cheers.

Do you have a case or screen protector on the phone?

I've only got the screen protector on that it came with... (I actually didn't even notice there was one already on it out of the package, and had 2 on for a while!).

An update: the power button has now decided to stop working, so when I receive a call, I have to hang up by pulling out the battery (or if the other person hangs up, the phone won't function anyway, so out goes the battery as well) and to turn it back on I have to run it through the repair on PC Companion and then plug it back in and click on the file manager, so it will boot the phone back to life.

As you can imagine, this isn't the most practicable, especially when I'm not infront of my laptop....

I've sent sony one last plea for goodwill, hoping that they'll make one sad gamer enjoy life once more.

the pre-loaded film its a anti shatter film, the second film its a scratch resistant film, the anti shatter film it is not scratch resistant, my suggestion is to make sure the scratch resistant film doesn't cover the proximity sensors

I tried pulling the screen protector back away from the sensor, but still no luck...  Slightly_frowning_Face
