best way to factory reset?

ok..  i have .270  and i read there is an update to that certified that may or may not be pushed out...

but the phone overheats when things like the camera or music player are used and its a little laggy at times...

whats the best way to factory reset so its a pure lollipop install that i then add things to again?

( i have 10gb of music on my sd card...  i wont need to reload all of that again will i... i.e.  pc companion will still see it sync'd to my pc music files etc?)

otherwise.  i was planning running pc companion back up...   factory resetting...  running pc companion back up to restore numbers etc  and then going into google play to reload all the apps i had?

or is that just a waste of time and i should just suffer the problems  or wait and see if 14.5.A.0.283 is pushed out and it is all fixed ?

Just backup your phone and reinstall lollipop and report back in couple of days

used pc comp to back up (all options ticked) the phone...

clicked on "repair"

and half way through PC comp reported "sony engine failed - error 100"

no options on pc comp seeing the phone...

went to another part of pc comp on updating phone, it said disconnect cable and start phone..

and the phone is stuck on the ribbons bootup swirl...

well that was not fun.  it has taken hours to get it back to all apps and nearly all settings as they were

(i did like the active wallpaper that changes colour...  although for now ive replaced it with the static wallpaper pic i had before to compare battery life like for like)

backup did not restore anything!  the phones settings? (no email etc, no accounts, nothing visable)  no contacts & no messages restored!!!

anyway...   ee clonephone did reload all the contacts.

and after a lot of app updating (they were very quick... far quicker than when individual ones update)

myxperia, email accounts other than google based ones,  facebook, twitter,  linkedin, swarm etc etc all had to be individually signed into.

phone gets warm as you would expect but has not glitched or shut down so far...

but one thing is weird...   before..  my google avatar showed on the lockscreen top right...  now i have a blue circle with a "body shape"  - why has that not got the same avatar the phone had before i factory reset?
