I was thinking of purchasing a pair of studio or pro beats but i plugged my friends pair of solo hd headphones today and it said "accessory not supported". Is this the case with all of the beats range or can it be fixed?
I can't speak for all of the beats range, but i can tell you that i own a pair of beats tour with talk control, and these do NOT work on my arc s, i get the accssory not supported mesage, very dissapointing.
If you have a stereo audio jack between the phone and the headphones you shouldn't have any such issue.
Sadly we can not fully comment on a third party range of products, the info posted is related to us from other customers. I hope it helps.
I am very fortunate that before buying an expensive headphones, I have experienced first buying an earphone with controls that is not compatible with my Arc. I found this link when I am searching for an explanation. I hope this link helps http://talk.sonyericsson.com/message/99886#99886
I have the Beats Studio and they work with my Arc. No probs. Great sound.
I also have the Beats Tour with mic control and these are not supported by Arc.
Well, I also have the same problem. I bought a pair Beats By dre online from http://www.beatsukmall.co.uk/ but now it can not work. Where shall I got a reparied shop?
To finally clear things up:
After reading through the posts here and the links provided it seems that the manufacturers of certain handsets use a different mic standard known as 'omtp' whih switches the roles of the mic and headphone partitions on the 3.5mm jack itself. (The top two bits separated by the green bands)
There are converters available if you follow the link in MBonus's post however these do not work for the Xperia Arc/s.
For anyone who has standard Beats By Dre headphones without a mic, they will work just fine on your Xperia handset including the Arc/s. For anyone who has them with an in line mic, they will not work on the Arc/s. (This is not confirmed to be the case with all Xperia handsets, just the Arc/s)
