battery charging issues

my battery strength won't charge beyond around 80%. This just started happening a few days ago. Even when left connected to the charger for hours. At times, the battery strength even decreases while connected to the charger. Help please !

My sony xperia m....doesn't charge regularly as of approx. 2 months ago.  I have tried using a new charger and now the phone battery actually decreases in strength.  If it does in fact charge, the battery drains quickly.  A few months ago I could go an entire work day without charging my phone and the battery wouldn't die.  Now....It doesn't get to 100%.....usually around 80%.  I don't have an attached battery to remove so I can't try that trick.  I've tried all of the battery strength crap about checking to see which apps drain the most strength.  I am not a tech savvy guy..so I don't even use many apps.  In fact, my carrier told me that I have never gone over the 2gb data limit.   I have changed it to safe mode.  I have tried the "hold the power off and volume up" trick...and that doesn't work.  I have only had this phone for approx. 7 months and I am ready to totally give up on it.  My carrier has sold its service to verizon and doesn't carry replacements.  If I switch to verizon...I will have to purchase a new phone. I feel really really stuck and this **bleep** !

Sorry to hear that you still have issues with your phone.

Are you sure that you have Xperia M? This model has a removable battery and removing and reinserting the battery may help.

Please see this page for information on how to access the battery: http://userguide.sonymobile.com/referrer.php?region=global-en&product=xperia-m#!Assembly.html

If this doesn't help, would it be possible for you to test another battery?

I accidentially dropped the phone and the battery fell out.  So I was wrong about not having a battery. However, the phone is not charging beyond the 40% level, still.  I am ready to give up on this device. This has been a problem for approx. 5 weeks now.

Sorry to hear that the issue remains.

I think that this needs to be examined and fixed at a repair center. For more information about how to submit your phone for repair and where, contact your local support team.

Yo dude

I had the same problem as you and I tried many apps but none worked but one thing worked and that is to clean your charge port. (make sure there are no dust in the charging port) After cleaning your charging port download Current Widget form the Play Store and make sure when your phone is plugged into charge the milliampres is mainly 400+ (if not it means your phone is not charging sufficiently)

Once I also faced this problem, but according to Mr. Rickard, if you remove your battery for few second and again restart it, it should help you, but still as you are telling that, its still not solved, rather try factory reset, or try to boot your cell in safe mode or during charging restart your phone. It may help you.

Having the same problem with xperia M. Thought this would be a nice little phone for my daughters 1st phone. HOW WRONG I WAS. She used it a handful of times, the battery was fully charged.... then it flashed red....1...2....3... and now it is absolutely useless. I have purchased new leads, new chargers 3 new batteries, held the buttons down, turned it off....everything I have been advised to  on these and other forums. I have connected it to PC companion which will not even detect the phone. As far as I can see there are NO solutions to this, when you try everything but then are told to 'update via pc companion' HOW CAN I DO THAT WHEN THE **bleep** BATTERY IS DEAD, YOU NEED 80% BATTERY... It's a viscious circle, can't do one thing before you charge the phone.... THE PHONE WON'T CHARGE, THAT IS THE ISSUE!!!!

I know my daughter is one little customer who mean absolutely nothing to you, BUT she is part of the next generation of Phone, Tablet and Play Station purchasers.

I am the embarrasing mom who has an old battered ipohne 3gs, my kids may run and hide when that rings when it's in my handbag, incase I answer it in public, but at least it works, have never had a problem with it.

SORT THIS OUT SONY. Not for me, because I now bow to defeat, but for the 100's of other people who are ripping thier hair out trying to charge dead phones.
