Hi,
I tried to restore a previous backup to test the feature in PC Companion. And the result is : It doesn't work. here is what I did :
- make a backup
- reset your Xperia S (using the repair function in PC Companion)
- restore your previous backup
- You have lost everything.
Tha backup is supposed to backup all your data, sms, music, contacts, parameters (display, ringtones...), bookmarks, etc. But nothing is restored. You are with a brand new Xperia S
Apps are on your Google account, so they can be restored, but what about all the modifications I made the screens, the sms, my ringtones, my bookmarks, my sync accounts (Exchange, Twitter, Facebook, Google, Foursquare, etc.)?
Have someone had the same problem?
I have The same Problem but on my SONY Xperia U !! SONY Should told us that PCC isn't Good for Backup !!! How can i Restore my lost Content ?!?!
Ok I've read through this thread and I think that Sony's backup 'solution' in this day and age is pretty much unacceptable. I know for a fact that iPhone backup and restore does pretty much everything (including sms & mms, device settings, wallpaper, homescreen, ringtones, apps and app data etc). So Sony's solution is completely inferior to that, and to get anything better I am told I need to root my phone, which takes my valuable time and voids my warranty. It's not a helpful feature to have to manually set everything on my phone if my phone gets reset for some reason, it is a very big hassle.
As for the excuse about a backup of everything creating 'securtiy' issues - that is a really silly excuse. The backup will be hosted on my computer and it is my judgment as to whether that is secure. If my computer is already hacked then the hacker being able to read the passwords on my phone is the least of my troubles. Alternatively, if Sony is worried about the securtiy of backups then they could provide the option to encrypt the backup or save it to the cloud. But all this is a moot point given that the Sony software backs up almost nothing at this point.
So is Sony going to make a proper backup solution or will we be left with this sorry excuse and no concern for customers who don't have time to mess around with our phones and remember how we like everything set?
I Did every things !!! Factory Reset, restore from3 diffrent backup, but still just some content restored !!! there's no option left for me ...
