Okay, it may sound familiar, but I did updated my Xperia Go to ICS unsuspiciously. (Build: 6.1.1.B.1.54)
The first time I did it with PC Companion, and then "repaired" with SUS. Same results.
With Gingerbread, it was fine, no lag, smooth handling, etc.
Now with the update some apps are laggings like crazy, some are just lagging moderately, some does not lag at all.
My question is:
Is there any way to fix these issues WITHOUT rooting/flashing/bricking my phone? (obviously for warranty reasons)
I really like this phone, but I can't help noticing the dropback in the experience.
And another question:
Will these annoyances be fixed in the Jelly Bean update? Is it worth waiting for it to get released on Xperia Go's? That'd give us some hope.
Thank you very much.
The two culprits I found to cause my lagging are Learningclient (only resolved by rooting and removal using titanium backup) and extended standby mode in power management which I've now unchecked.
Having this checked means that the cpu clock is dropped to 200Mhz at every opportunity and quicker than get back to 1Ghz.
Thank you for your reply.
Well, I don't have any app named Learning client on my Go, so that can't be the reason for me.
I disabled the extended standy mode, restarted the phone, but my apps are still lagging. Maybe a little bit more than before.
However, there is a strange thing: when I connect my phone to my PC with the cable, the lag stops! It's smooth! I want to achieve exactly that performance! The apps run nicely, everything is quick and at place.
This "exception" only occurs when I plug the cable to the PC. If I use the socket to charge up my phone, it doesn't work.
I used to check if the phone still lags with Jetpack Joyride. If it starts lagging massively within the first 10 seconds of playing, then the problem is still unsolved.
Dear Sony Support, do you have any insight on this situation?
1. As i understand there is no cpu downclocking when you plug it in to your pc so you can play games.
2. So my question sounds like: Is it possible that new firmware will disable cpu frequency scaling if any power source is plugged in? And enable it when power source is removed? Just like it enables led that lights on when power source is connected.
Steps:
Take phone xperia go ST27i.
Android version 4.0.4.
Build 6.1.1.B.1.10.
Plug your phone to a sony charger that is included with a phone.
Plug charger into the wall.
Expected:
Cpu frequency scalling is only enabled when on battery.
It is always 1Ghz when charging from pc or charger. So you can play Jetpack Joyride without lag. Or use any application with full phone pottential
Actual:
Cpu frequency scalling(downclocking) is enabled also when phone is charging from a sony charger that is included with phone. However when you charge your phone from a pc it disables frequency scalling(downclocking) and you can play Jetpak Joyride without lag.
It's Build 6.1.1.B.1.54 here.
The rest is correct. I'm still wondering what could be the solution. I don't even know what causes this!!!
Some people said it's the lack of RAM.
Some people said it's because I have apps installed from Gingerbread and they conflict.
Some people said the CPU is downclocking itself.
What is the truth then? This is annoying.
Just plug it into pc every time you play..
You can view ram usage and you can restore to factory defaults so there will be no conflicts for sure..
Haha, okay, but I'm not at home all day when I just want to play.
I'm thinking about doing a factory reset, but recovering my stuff after that could be a pain in the...
And even if I do that, it's not guaranteed it will work. When I reparied the phone with SUS, it wiped all the data. fortunately I made a backup before.
There should be a proper, 100% working solution.
Hell yes. It would be awesome to have an option to switch between performance and battery saving mode.
Though if you rooted your phone then you can download cpu frequency scaling application and change to performance.. Or how did you get 6.1.1.B.1.54 ? Can it be done without rooting ?
Yes. Here in Hungary, it let me to upgrade to .54 with PC Companion.
But I still don't want to root my bloody phone! The risk is too high and the reward isn't that rewarding, because this problem is basically just an annoyance, not a massive bug.
And I'm still waiting for an answer from the Sony Support Team whether this problem will be investigated and fixed in the Jelly Bean update.
So i should setup my proxy for USA or Hungary then? Then i will be able to update ?
