Audio Issue

Hi Everybody,

I have a Sony Xpedia Z which I have issues with. After having a iPhone for a couple of years to replace a C902, and not liking it much I have gone back to Sony. I transferred my music from the iPhone and it came out in mono, I was thinking it was the transfer so deleted all of the files (not a problem as I purchase all music on CD or vinyl). This weekend I had a marathon recording session on Media Go and got music onto my phone. It is still mono, only coming out of the right channel. I'm not sure if it is only a single side of stereo or just playing the track out of one channel. Also I have found that the USB doesn't seem to carry sound like the Apple did. I used to connect the iPhone into the USB socket of my Yamaha amplifier and it would register that a USB device is connected and let me play my music. This phone doesn't, is this an issue? So to summerise. Mono playback and no usb connection facility.

Many Thanks

Gav

Hi,

Mono as in the sound is only coming out of one channel. The sound is only coming out of the right hand channel, sorry I thought I stated that I hadn't listened to check whether it was an issue with the left channel not being played (i.e. a stereo sound can be recorded so the left and right channels are filled with a different sound as in Pink Floyd where the sound can moves across the stereo output.) or it was playing the whole sound through one channel i.e. Mono.

I have tried a number of different headphones, the supplied Sony headphones, my previous apple headphones and some after market logitech headphones, all do exactly the samething bringing me to the conclusion of, One the headphone jack socket isn't seating the plug properly. Software, the transferring process of the mp3's from PC to phone using Media Go is altering the files somehow, the file on the PC is working through both channels. As I stated before, with the iPhone the sound can be transferred via a USB cable and played back on my amplifier, with the Sony, unfortunately it doesn't, a huge oversight I believe, unless it does and my phone just isn't working correctly.

Cheers

For USB try Switching mode in USB connectivity setting, MSC and MTP, change it to different mode. it should work. Secondly Try copying a song normally without using mediago or any other sync. and then try with any headphone, just to make sure if the pin is proper?

I'll give the USB change a go when I get home tonight. From the result (if it works) I can determine whether the files have transferred correctly. This will also narrow down the issue.

Many thanks

Hi,

I think what is happening is the Left channel is either recording at a lower inaudible level or the channel in the headphones isn't connnecting properly in the socket. I don't think I use it with my amp either. It can't find it with the USB, I bet it is only made to connect via an audio cable.

This Looks like a hardware issue with the socket. why don you take it to Sony service center, they wil take care of it

OK thanks, where would I find one of those, the website keeps taking me to India, I don't really want to go there just for my phone, although I have fond memories.
