Ok so I've been having a few issues with my Arc not charging properly or the charging led staying on after the charger was disconected. Normally these issue were either fixed with a wiggle, turning the phone off and sometimes removing the battery. Its also been a bit iffy about turning back on sometimes although normally taking the battery out would fix that.
Earlier after much prodding of the power button and plugging in and unplugging of the charger (and in some cases data cable) I got it to switch on and the past couple of attempts at plugging in a data cable have resulted in in the sony erricon screen coming up and then the phone turning off again. If it helps the last time the phone turned on everything was working normally and the battery had 47% charge.
Anyway can it be fixed and more impotantly is there anyway I can fix it without wiping my data (as I have a couple of messages I really need to get to ASAP)
quick update: The phone decided to turn on and I was able to recover the essential data, so if people think this issue can be fixed by wiping let me know (only problem is that none of my computers seem to recognise it as a phone when connected to usb.)
and a third update:
Since I had what I needed off of the phone I decided to try a factory reset: phone shutdown and that was it.... now seems lifeless.
With this information, I suggest that you go down the path of performing a software repair as this sounds like a software issue.

let me know how this goes.
