Arc display problems?

I've had my Xperia Arc since August and it's just started to give me some real issues. A couple months ago, i dropped it and in turn there showed a hairline sort of crack of light in the top of my screen, which, my fault, and also not really an impact on my phone use. HOWEVER, just today I was using it one minute, then turned the screen off. Turned it back on, and nothing, completely black. I know it's functioning because the lights are coming and if I slide across the bottom it unlocks and I can press play where the music player should be.

So, I popped the battery out and put it back in. Nothing. Did it again and finally the screen came back. However, there are other issues. Any white colour smears into sort of yellow lines that extend up my phone screen (example, example), and half the time it goes back to the black screen.

As you can see, it's kind of affecting my phone use. A lot.

I tried resetting the software, and still no luck.

Is this a terminal issue that I'm going to need hardware repair to fix? I'm still under warranty so I can simply send it out to the repair center, but I'd rather not as my phone is kind of a pivotal part of my everyday life. Is there a way to fix it myself?

-Katie

(ps. sorry that this is so completely long winded)

this is a hardware issue, you need to replace at least the LCD I don't know if anything else was affected. since you dropped the phone it's not covered by warranty anymore, you can still send it to sony and pay them so they can fix it for you
