Does the Xperia T have APT-x over bluetooth. The Samsung Galaxy 3 has !

No, I don't think so actually. If you want to be able to play APTx-files there are several 3rd party music players on Play store.

For a complete list of supported audio codecs, check white paper for Xperia T:

Hi Samuel,

APT-X is a protocol for transferring audio using Bluetth to an APT-X enabled receiver such as headphones.

I would like to upgrade my neo V to a more capable Xperia, but unfortunately, Sony is quite a way behind Samsung and HTC. Both these brands have quad core phones and Bluetooth 4.0 which supports APT-X.

Can you point me to an Xperia that come close? I'm looking at Acro S but I'm not enticed by the specifications. Slightly_frowning_Face

Ah, I see.

Well, Xperia T and Acro has about the same specifications in terms of bluetooth and playback features, so if the T doesn't satisfy your needs the Acro S probably won't either, unfortunately.

I will however take this further internally.

In any case, I have upgraded to the Xperia V. It has Bluetooth 4.0 support but did not explicitly mention that it has AptX enabled. Is there a possibility for AptX to be enabled for this phone? I am a little disappointed because it does not sound as good as my other products with AptX enabled. For a waterproof phone like this, I would not like to open up the port for wired headphones. It defeats the purpose for having waterproofing. Similarly for the charging over the USB port but this is addressed with the charging dock. I am still looking for one because it is very difficult to find Sony accessories here in Singapore.

Update:

The audio quality over Bluetooth from my Xperia V to my pair of Creative WP300 cans sounds closer to AptX than A2DP. It still sounds poorer than the audio from my PC via a Creative USB AptX transmitter but it might also be due to a poorer mp3 decoding from the phone. I have good feeling that this phone might actually have AptX enabled though no one is confirming it.

Incidentally, Sony just announced licensing CSR AptX for its products.
