Andoid 4.4 and SD Card Issues

Hello Everyone - With Andoid 4.4, google is put in a patch whereby any application cannot write on to the SD Card other than it's deginated folder. Only first party apps can write anywhere on the SD Card. As an outcome, I have observed that the Wireless Media Transfer option is also not working. Other than File Commander, no third pary file manager or application can write anymore on the card, or for that matter, to the phone memory.

Does anyone know what's Sony's take on this is? Wireless Media Transfer should be treated as first party but that does not seem to be the case.

Thanks, LJ

I seem to have experienced similar issues, though for me my SD card gets corrupted even though I was using File Commander Slightly_frowning_Face

Here is the thread I started, still no solution yet... Very frustrating.

Not sure if you are experiencing the same problem but are you able to insert SD Card and have photos/videos to be saved on there via the native camera app? (After changing the destination folder for the camera to SD Card).

Hello Kuanuy - Thanks for your reply.

Actually my bad - I should have put a more appropriate subject. To me this is not only an SD Card challenge. When I link up my phone to my laptop by Wireless Media Transfer, I am not able to even write on to the internal memory of the phone. Hence going back to my initial point, this looks like more of an Android thing. Sony should actually have come up with something on this. I'll go through your thread now but sounds like you've already done a lot of research on this and looke like there is nothing from Sony.

I did not have problems when I tried to save photos from my camera on the SD card. However, I did a factory reset recently to get rid of Google Play Services. Let me try that out again.

If you are having internal memory issues then it would be different to mine. I am purely only experiencing the issue on SD cards.
