Ambient Light Sensor does not work with ICS

I upgraded to ICS recently within a couple of days of it being availble for my SI number.

I have realized lately that the display on my phone does not adapt to the ambient ligt conditions. I tried playing with the settings for the display brightness and it seems that the ambient light sensor is not causing any changes to the display backlight.

Can anyone else confirm if this issue is occuring on their hand-sets too? Should I try a reinstall of ICS or repairing the software through PC Companion?

At which level is the brightness set to?

Check if the phone still behaves like this after reinstall via SUS.

Let me know.

Irrespective of what level I keep the brightness at the problem exists.

As soon as I enable the use of the sensor, the brightness adjusts immediately according to the ambient light condition. But then, it remains static thereafter. I mean, only the initial setting is acquired everytime the sensor is enabled, after that the sensor fails to have effect on the brightness.

Auto brightness does not work on the Go. It didn't work in Gingerbread and it doesn't work in ICS. It has never worked.

Ok. I will have to make some investigation and forward this for testing. If this can be replicated hopefully we will see a fix in the near future.

It did work on my handset earlier and it worked pretty well.

I am not sure if I should do a repair on the phone again. I mean, how many times am I supposed to keep repairing the phone!

I have the same problem in GB and ICS. If I check auto adjust bright item, the screen bright will be darkest level.

And I enter engineer mode for test Ambient Light Sensor. The vaule is alwayse 1 or 2.
