Alarms not going off?

Anyone else have this problem?

I've switched off - completely - both taskiller apps (which were shown to ignore the alarms) and still nothing. I got up at 11.45 because of that today, and very soon I'll be relying on alarms very much, and can't have this madness! I tried a market alarm too and no change.

Ok first of all do you have a mini or big X10?

I have bigun, so what I say may not apply to you.  In your Alarm Clock, if you press Menu>Settings is your alarm volume turned right up and do you also have the Alarm in Silent mode box ticked?

The other thing to try is downloading an app from the market if you have access... there are a fair few free ones. This may help you out.

Just as an aside, if you have market access try downloading a programme called Quick Settings, it gives you access to lots of bits that you'd otherwise have to troll through the menus for.  One of them is Volume control and it gives you the details of your volume for Ringer, Notifications, Media, Alarm, Voice Call and System Volume.  Its a good way to check that one particular thing isn't turned to silent.

Thanks,

I'm using the X10 Mini. I downloaded an app called SoftAlarm, so it doesn't scream in my ear in the morning as it has done. Both apps seem to be (the original alarm too) not working. I'll try that app you mentioned quick settings. Thanks Suze!

Just a thought thats come to me, you aren't running a task killer thats killing the alarms function by any chance.

And sorry misread first post where you told me you had alread got a market app. D'oh!

Hi, yeah I've been using two task killers. I completely disabled both and still nothing. I should say though that leaving my phone ON, and setting the alarm is working though. If that helps narrow things down?

To be fair it sounds like you've done all the obvious stuff.  Can you remove the battery and then restart the phone with the task killers off and see what happens.  It might need to reboot itself. If that doesn't work maybe a software repair, but you will lose your data on the phone (not sd card) apps can be reinstalled from the market if needs be.  If your phone has it use the back up and restore function.

I'd also make sure that you have saved your phone numbers cos I'm sure I saw a thread earlier that said they'd done a reset and it had lost their numbers. I think that if you turn of syncing and then run the back up it will copy the contacts onto the sd card backup file.  Once you are back up and running you can restore your settings and then once your contacts are back, switch syncing back on.  I haven't done this before so don't take my word as gospel but this is how I would do it.

Thanks for that.

I debranded my phone the other day, so the software is about 2 days old. I did notice 1 other thing I didn't like that changed; the message screen has changed; you can't tap the sides to open the other screens, you now drag. I could tap and open much quicker before.

The alarms did cause me trouble before the debrand though. I have backed up apps and contacts etc. The X10/Mini have inbuilt batteries that can't be removed I'm afraid. I've about 8 screens of apps so reorganizing will be a nightmare! I have everything backed up so I'll do that now. I won't install the app-killers and see how that goes...I'll report back, and thanks again!

OK I can now report that after a fresh repair, the non-presence of the task-killers did NOT fix the missing alarm problem. Note one and all...

Also, I HIGHLY recommend users of the Minis NOT to install to many apps. With about 5 apps installed, my phone is running way faster. Previously I had installed around 25 apps. DON'T! The phone runs much slower...I wonder what this means for the phone running 2.1/2.2? Would that be stretching the phone's ram? Hmm
