After ICS update, WiFi widget causes phone reboot

After installing the ICS update on my Xperia PRO USA unlocked model via PC Companion... when I turn off WiFi using the widget, it does so - it turns it off. When I use the widget again to turn WiFi back on, it causes my phone to reboot.

I don't seem to have this problem if I turn WiFi on and off inside the WiFi settings area. But using the widget is now broken for me.

Anyone else?

Since posting I've found several other widgets and apps causing reboots as well. Looks like ICS wasn't ready for the Xperia PRO USA model.

Using the Facebook app, was just posting a picture and typing out the descrption when once again, the phone rebooted. ICS sucks.

OK, I'm seeing Sony Xperia Support people posting all around these forums but nothing here. What gives?

Going from Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich has made my phone usless. When it isn't rebooting, it's sloowwwwwwwwwwwww. Lags so bad now. But I could even deal with that if the phone didn't reboot seemingly everytime I touch it and do anything on it now. Not to mention ICS took up just about all of the internal memory.

This phone is only 5 months old and it's complete garbage to me now thanks to the ICS upgrade. Is there a way to wipe it out back to Gingerbread or replace it with a phone that actually works? It is still under warranty.

Have you tried repairing the phone software via PC Companion?

If it doesn't help I suggest that you contact your local support team to get your phone examined at an repair center.

OK, when I go to do the repair using PC Companion, it tells me, "Personal data such as contacts, messages, photos, files and settings saved in the phone memory will be overwritten during an update since the software in your phone will be completely erased."

Does this mean it will also delete my Access Point Names? I bought this phone brand new, unlocked and had to enter my own APN for it to work with my carrier. Since this is settings, will I have to do enter my own APN again after the repair?

Yes all settings will be brought back to default if you do a software repair.

Well after doing the Repair function using PC Companion, it looks like most of my issues have been taken care of - except turning on WiFi using any of the widgets does cause it to reboot, as does using a new app for the first time. It's really annoying and I hope they can figure this out and fix it. But at least my phone isn't rebooting 25+ times a day anymore. But still... it shouldn't be rebooting at all. So, Sony... FIX IT!
