Advise against Magnetic charger, (battery problems after around 1year)

I got my z3compact along with a magnetic charger.

A little over a year and battery is acting up. At first it would not start at all. Not even LED. Later only Sony logo and off charging. And now only turns on in spurts.

So now my phone is more paper weight than anything useful.

And, it did not last until camera working on AOSP.

Problem is warranty over and the parts (battery) unavailable where I am at the moment.

Hopefully it is just battery and it can be fixed, but until I travel can not be sure.

So long story short, I think there is a good reason why new phones do not have magnetic chargers as they might cause problems with a battery - which also can not be replaced properly without breaking 'waterproofing', that is, if they had the spare parts, which they dont, I was told that if it was under warranty they just give new phones out and avoid the repair

Stay away from magnetic chargers.

I had magnetic chargers (Original ones) for my old Z1, my wife's Z2, and my current Z3, none of them had battery problems. My current Z3 is more than a year old and it still has the same battery performance. My be you got your battery life ending early, Li-ion batteries must be maintained and never let go dry in order to prolong their lives.

Yes, as I mentioned I got them with the phone, both (original ones).

Dry?

Not sure what you mean. But, I was using phone everyday, as are most people.

While, an older phone I got a few months before the z3c - I did leave out to dry for months at a time and it works fine.

I understand that sometimes batteries die, and some batches work better than others.

But, it is annoying that spare parts(in this case the battery) can not be found at official Sony workshops.

I had the same problem with the x10 mini pro. What I thought was the keyboard connector, which turned out to be a whole board, needed to be replaced and the part was unavailable in one country and when I found the part from another official workshop it still did not work.

Sony phones are not cheap and should be able to be repaired. The official repair solution if under warranty is replace phone, which is a good solution but there should also be an option to repair the phone for people who keep phones for more than a year.

I would be still using my x10mini pro if that was the case.

Loved the battery and camera. And size. But unfortunately due to hardware failure(keyboard wire) it was made useless.

If Sony had proper spare parts and better official workshops more people would be using them.

Instead they failed in there 6month new release strategy and are looking for new ways to survive, (lets not go into the wonderfully fake waterproof market campaign)
