A few issues with the phone

Hi there,

I had this phone for a while and must say I'm quite impressed. Altough I must address a few software issues I found.

Auto-rotate: for some reason phone keeps roatating while charging even if its disabled.

Tap to unlock: unlocks phone in pocket, even in thick jeans. missing tap to lock feature.

backlight control: for some unclear reason(perhaps faulty unit), the phone locks itself while im holding it whlie lying down - phone screen towards the floor(note: this happens while smart backlight control is off).

Smart backlight control: occasionally leaves screen awake till I use the power button to lock the phone.

Wireless media transfer: would be nice if it would automatically reconnect to the PC. overall abit buggy, a lot of disconnections.

I hope to see some of these issues addressed in lolipop or any upcoming update.

Thanks!

  1. If you are using a Dock to charge your phone it will rotate
  2. Elaborate, but a pin or pattern lock should sufice
  3.
  4. Do you have any other app that prevents your phone from Idle?

It'll be a good idea to contact Sony directly to give them some feedback

Nice summary!

I'd add my experiences:

1. When you are doing a LONG phonecall, the phone locks itself during the call. Therefore after hang up, the screen does not come back. It's also a headache to search for a contact during the call, because you need to unlock the handset again. (Specially when you are using it's loud speaker)

2. When selecting a starred (favourite) contact, the system always asks which number of the contact I want to dial (even if I have selected a default number) it's an annoying extra 'tap'.

3. It's not really a current issue, but hopefully Sony will change this in Android 5.0: I noticed on my Nexus 7, the battery stats has been changed by not showing the amount of time since last charging anymore. I wonder if Sony will not follow this bad idea.

Apart from these, I'm very satisfied with this phone! Nice job and keep up the good support and I'll become a Sony mobilephone fan! Slightly_smiling_Face

@uliwooly at number 2 the problem with double tap to wake up is that when screen wakes up phone is in unlocked state (last app or home screen). But if it is in the pocket screen reacts to touch of your body through pocket and makes sudden calls, sends  text and other stuff that you wouldn't like.

It should work the way that you double tap so the screen wakes up and then you swipe screen to actually unlock it.

Same applies to bluetooth unlock. If you press power button it also unlocks screen and moves to home screen. I think it should wait for swipe to protect from accidental damage caused by unplanned touches.

Number 4 - in my phone it sometimes works and sometimes is ignored. I haven't any situation when screen didn't go off but very often it goes off when it shouldn't. I think it worked for a week and never seen that working again.
