Hi, I have a 64 GB micro SD card, when placed into the Xperia and connected to my PC everything copies across and my music syncs, however, after 2 days the SD card stops responding and the phone starts locking up and restarting.
I have now tried 2 micro SD cards, ( they both work fine in my old HTC Sensation).
I have had 2 handsets and both have become unusable once this issue occurrs - removing the SD card does not help as the phone still keeps resetting and experiences massive battery drain.
The only way to make the phone usable again is to perform a full factory reset - I have done this 12 times on the 2 handsets I have had.
As both of my SD cards come up as error free and both work in my old handset - I can only deduce that the Xperia handset is the issue.
Before I send my Xperia back and request a refund , does anyone know of this issue or how to solve it?
Have you performed a repair or factory reset - A repair is different from a factory reset and it fully re-installs the firmware
Hi, thanks for your rely.
I've done the factory reset from the menu and I've now had 2 handsets both have had this issue, As the 2 x SD cards I have work perfectly in my old HTC handset - I really don't want be resetting or repairing it yet again - 12 x is enough - I'm thinking the best option is to return it for a refund and take my business elsewhere.
I was hoping someone may have had a similar issue or it might be flagged as a known issue.
It's a great handest, apart from the SD card corruption and subsequent freezing, re-starting etc...
What brand are the SD cards?Have you tried to low level format them?
I've tried FAT32 and exFat - the key thing for me is they work fine in my old HTC running Android 4.3.1, they also work fine in the Xperia for a maxiumum of 2 days - at this point the phone becomes unusable even after removing the DS card.
Both cards have been checked for errors and both are Sandisk.
The Xperia is not only struggling to read the card but it also constantly re-starts, ring tones stop working, icons are missing etc... even when the card is no longer in the phone.
I think in all honesty after 14 days, 12 factory resets, 2 handsets and 2 SD cards, I would be better off switching back to my HTC and having £400 in my pocket.
I am sorry to hear this, but did you think about the handset being the one with problems?
I've had a replacement handset already, it worked for 2 days then this morning I had no ring tones and it kept locking and re-starting - I'm a computer engineer so have extensive experience in fault finding - it appears the one constant in this is Xperia handsets with 64 GB SD cards.
Does anyone else use them, if so have you had any issues?
Hello,
I am experiencing issues too with 64gb sd card.. data copied from phone to card like pictures that where in the phone's memory and pictures taken directly into sd appears to be corrupted seconds after they are taken..
In these days I am doing more test with different cards, however my 64gb sd appears to be fine because other files I copied from a pc are not corrupted.. for information I am on 14.4.A.0.108 system.. any idea??
With this latest system it is possible to take pictures directly to sd (Finally.. wasn't that difficoult eh? ) is it possible that this feature is troublesome/buggy??
