2.3.3 not a fruitful update for X10!

I've upgraded to 2.3.3 recently and observed many changes. To some extent some features in 2.1 were cool rather than in 2.3.3.

1. Audio issues after 2.3.3 update disapoints! - Especially while listening to songs from the media player, there is some distortion, which is a major issue.

2. No Improvement in call volume, same as earlier

3. No Back up & restore app

4. Timescape is really gone bad with the latest update. - looks like SE didnt give much importance to Timescape which is a wonderful app in X10. UI of Timescape is at its worst, with large tiles displaying data when selected

5. Mediascape was replaced by gallery which is the same as gallery app in 2.1

I hope if this is the last update given by SE, we can root X10 for exploring the real smart fone!

I updated my X10 to GB a couple of days back post which the media and market processes are not working at all.

I tried to repair using PC companion but nothing happened and it just said your phone already has the latest software, as an alternative I tried using the Update engine and got the same message. Than I re-installed PC companion on my phone post which I have not been able to download the Support zone application on PC companion.

Sent a mail to customer care and haven't heard back yet, chatted with customer care and am being told to go to repair centre.

Is there any way my phone can start working back again.

settings -> applications -> manage applications -> market -> clear data, clear cache, clear defaults and uninstall updates

I am afraid that I have to disagree. I was on here constantly moaning about the lack of update. I for one am very satisfied customer now I have 2.3.3

WELL DONE SONY ERRICSSON!!!

As for your issues......

1. I have found that once you have run it for a while if clears. If you are impatient see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208353

2. OK agreed.

3. I back everything up through google, much easier.

4. Timescape was awful before and is still awful now.

5. I do miss Mediascape.....although other (better) apps are available.

Hi Chirutha,

1. I never had the audio troubles since the first day I upgraded but I did had an incident with my SD card and I had to reformat and transfer all my audio files on the new formated SD card. But no problem with playingback audio or video files.

2. Call quality didnt improve but it didnt get any worse so I was kind of relieved. I researched the subject a lot since I got my phone and there is really no one thing to blame about call quality. It s a monster with many heads. It can be a hardware issue, a network issue, a signal issue, an app(s) issue it can be many things and all together. I have a friend with the same model on the same network, same OS, right beside me and his calls are 10 times better than mine. I dont know what to think anymore. I always use my headset, which makes it fine for me but the other side of the line hears me really bad. They all say the same thing. Like I am in a tunnel or a car and it s very windy. No difference if I have my headset plugged in or not. I believe that the software that controls the background noise is badly programmed. There is a "sweet spot" where the balance of background noise and voice is just right but who cares anymore.

3. Back up and such... I am sure there are at least 10 threads to read about, so no complain there.

4. Timescape looks good but sucks to begin with. I never used it and never will.

5.I liked Mediascape but I dont really miss it. I am sure in a few weeks, some developer will take care of that and we will all be able to install it on the side. These guys are amazing.

To sum up I am glad for the update and I wish they would continue to update the product but I dont think so. I like the browser in GB and I really like the flash compatibility. App to SD is the main reason I updated though. Dont forget that Androind is still a baby and is learning how to speak. It is going to take a while until it writes poetry.  Sony Ericsson is a corporation and they need to sell new products. It would be incomprehensible to make a "perfect product". That would be the worst marketing move. No one would buy anything new, the stock would die.

Buy a few beers to some "XDAs" and will take care of anything!
