The only problem I hadwith my Tipo so far was that I could not receive MMS. But this was not a good enough reason to go through a Software Repair, as sugested by the Sony Xperia support centre, and having to reinstall all my apps and other stuff. I am pretty happy with my Tipo as is. Reading through the forum, it appears that this update is causing more trouble than benefits for users.
So can anyone please tell me what the benefits of this uptate are supposed to be? What exactly does it do to my Tipo when there are no problems with it?
Thanks.
Things which I have observed are,
Regarding MMS issues, I am not able to send or receive MMS on any android based cell phone. I have htc explorer, htc wildfire s, sony tipo dual and none of them can send or receive MMS from any network even though I have necessary settings. Damn you android.
The problem is definitely related to network providers and not mobile phones. I have older Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones and I can send/receive MMS without any problem.
Thanks for your input. Interesting to hear about your MMS experience. I spent 10 days emailing Sony Xperia UK Customer Services for a solution. They never once mentioned that this is a general issue. Instead they just kept telling me to update or do a Software Repair. I was reluctant to do that, since they already confirmed that this will remove any data that is not saved to the Memory Card or SIM Card.
Have you ever tried to use MMS since you installed the latest update?
Yes. But neither can I receive MMS nor send any. While sending, It keeps giving error that MMS shall be sent when service become available even though service is active and necessary settings for MMS are installed. My other android phones also give similar error.
Regarding latest software update, some people might be suffering from any issues if phone didn't update properly. But my phone updated successfully and have never given error of any kind. I also have applied touchscreen fix, and now touch is as much responsive as it should be. I hope, you already have checked this thread: http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/346167#346167
Thanks, I have read that thread. Luckily, I don't seem to have any issues with touch either. Or maybe I don't expect more, since this is my first smartphone/android.
I am still somewhat reluctant to do the update. As the saying goes: If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
I also find it hard to find out what to back up and how to back up my phone. I'm pretty sure I have my phonebook (ContactsSetup.vcf) saved and my images (DCIM), But I wouldn't know where to start looking for anything to do with the apps I have installed, like notes, recordings, emails, and settings that were made for different apps. This seems pretty much like reinstalling your computer -- you don't know what's missing until you need it. At least I can image my computer, and when things go wrong I just throw the last image back on, but I don't know where to start on the android.
Hi, Does anybody know what the purpouse of the 11.0.A.6.8 system update was supposed to have been?
