Hi, bought a new Sony XA1 from amazon (direct),
It arrived in an unsealed postage container from Amazon, so the contents could be accessed. When taking the items out (thankfully all there), I noted there was not security seal (or any type of fastening or tape) on the XA1's box from Sony. It all looks genuine, I just have no way telling. Are Sony now not sealing their boxes as standard (woulnd't have minded too much if the outer box was sealed).
Previous posts from Sony indicate that they cannot guarantee the boxes are sealed (so how do we know they are genuine)? They also say if from an authorised dealer, then they should be genuine - so how do we determine that too? I bought from Amazon.co.uk in the UK.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Matt
Update
Received a second phone from Amazon (Still terrible open packaging) but the sony box was sealed - now I contatced Sony to determine if they were genuine security seals - but they still don't know (one on chat said categorically they have seals), another on the phone was they are not sure. Advice was take it to a store - (nearest UK store is 6 hr drive)!
Any ideas? should this be sealed - if so, what does it look like?
Thanks
Matt
Hi @MattB1, welcome to the community.
Different retailers will package differently to one another. Some may seal, some may not. Some may include bonus accessories, others not. I can not say how the specific item you purchased should have been packaged.
If you like however, I can confirm if the IMEI of your device is genuine. Please send me a PM (Private Message) with your IMEI and I will check it for you.
You can find the IMEI by dialing *#06#.
