Service Center asking for money for screen replacement

Right now I’m a proud owner of Sony Xperia XA Dual IMEI from last 1 year (Bill Date 23rd July 2016). However since 15th July 2017 I started experiencing problems in device screen (lines with blurrness on screen). This was highly unexpected since Sony mobiles are known for their display quality. I approached the Sony service center, where I was informed, this phone will be repaired and problem will get resolved (work id – W117071901642). On June 29th July (phone was out of warrenty now) I got the repaired phone and problem was resolved.

But on August 10th the same problem started again which led me to visit the center on 16th August (because of long weekend and national holidays) and I submitted my phone for repairing with job id W117081602123 to same service center. But today I got a call from service center stating that I have to bear the cost of screen replacement because my phone is out of warranty now. Which is very disheartening for me, because within 10 days of repairing same problem has occurred so why should I pay for it ?

Check with your local support terms of warranty for replaced parts. According to Sony's general terms and warranty conditions:

"If Sony repairs or replaces the device, the repair for the defect concerned or the replaced device shall be warranted for the remaining time of the original warranty period or for ninety (90) days from the date of repair, whichever is longer. Repair or replacement may involve the use of functionally equivalent reconditioned units. Replaced parts or components will become the property of Sony. "

My opinion is that you should not be charged for something that is under warranty.

i checked with local service centre and customer care as well..both said it will be chargable but as per sony terms and conditios for service (http://www.sony.co.in/section/servicecharges - Point 6) for 90 days it will be sony responsbilty to take care of the problem if it occurs in same part. How come terms and conditions are not updated you service centre and customer care people.

it's resloved now, they are replacing the screen without any cost...thanks guys 🙂 cheers....
