The date is not displayed anywhere on the display. Not at the top where the time always is, not on any of the several pages where apps icons are. Further to this ridiculousness, there are absolutely no instructions anywhere on how to do this. It should be readily available.

@Psione if you long press an empty space on you homescreen and choose Widgets > Clocks, you'll find a selection of clock widgets, and some of them show the date too.
If you pull down the notification pane (half-way, not the full view) then you can see the date. Alternatively, use any clock widget that displays the date for you on your homescreen.
