Bluetooth and Wifi Issues

In the last few weeks I've been experiencing frequent issues with my bluetooth and wifi.  My phone forgets my bluetooth headset and I have to resync to get it to work.  As well with my wifi it will have authentication issues with my router.  I often have to restart my phone to fix both the bluetooth and the wifi issues.

This is getting extremely frustrating.  I only bought this phone at the end of August and it's already having issues.

WiFi goes off when I turn on!

Mine does the same thing as @smiert.  Except if I tried to slide it to ON, my phone freezes.  And when I tried to shut down the phone by pressing the power button for 2 seconds, the "Powering off" message appears and it just freezes there.  I will have to use the Volume Up+power button for 10 seconds to shut the phone down.  Upon power up, the wifi usually is working again.

Sony: at least acknowledge the phone has a problem instead of ignoring all your customers.  This is NOT good customer support for a company that wants to be an consumer electronics leader in the world.

Since the Oreo update my bluetooth headset disconnects when the screen is off. It happened with all BT devices. Clearing network settings or bluetooth cache helped for a little bit sometimes, but the issue would come back.

I found that this only happens when wifi is on (whether not wifi is connected to anything). Keeping the wifi off AND turning off wifi scanning fixed the issue. If wifi scanning is on it also makes BT disconnect when the screen is off.

@benjaminclaw: glad to hear you've found a temporary solution. Unfortuneately my problem is not quite the same. For me, I need wifi and when I turned on the phone (after it has been on standby for a while), the wifi would be off. Tried turning it on in the Settings but it would immediately shut back off and the gui would then freeze. I then need to do a [Volume Up]+[Power off] to reboot because just holding the [Power off] button will not reboot the phone. @Smiert has the same problem and posted a video: /t5/Xperia-XA1-Ultra/WiFi-issues/td-p/1249087/page/2

By the way, I've already tried turning off Bluetooth and/or toggling Airplane mode on my phone (as some have posted here) but it doesn't work for me. I had no problems at all prior to May, so Sony did something with their latest update push.

Sony: as you can see, the wifi issue posts have the most views and replies, so you should know the problem is quite widespread. I can't imagine fixing a fundamental and common function like wifi and Bluetooth can be that difficult in 2018!?!

I was unfortunate to have a Sony mobile years ago and all these years they haven't improved at all so I wouldn't hope for too much in the near future. I now use a Sony Experia XA1 work issued what a nightmare need I say more.

Im having the same problems the Wifi is on but the intrnet just goes off for a few mins then its back on again tbh my phone is fairly new still and its probably the worst phone ive ever had if im being honest.

Same issue with my Xperia XA1. Always had to restart and it's frustrating.

Still no reaction from Sony? My XA visited service twice during the last six months. Motherboard replaced, screen replaced, New IMEI asigned, camera replaced, microphone replaced. System updated. All that within six months... Unf...nbelievable. The funniest thig is that the problem of wifi and bluetooth still exists.....  Are they doing anything a about it? Sony can you finally comment on this isue?

That's crazy. Replaced all that for nothing. I've had the XA, xa1 and xa2. I'm done with Sony. The xa2 has delayed notifications, lag, and other annoying glitches. I'm going with a Oneplus 6t soon. Friends have had the 5t and 6 and it's been nothing but a positive experience.
