You can block calls but not messages, you will need a third party app to do so or contact your carrier network

Hi, if you get a multi device license for ESET, you can block numbers for calls and sms. ESET is a security software company and I use it on 3 laptops, tablet and 2 phones.

This is the Australian link, just go to the appropriate locality.

Like ESET, AVG and other antiviruses apps supporting this feature of blocking contacts too, its just up to you what you will select and what will be best to use for you personally...but I think you will must buy your own license, I dont think that free or trial versions supporting this but maybe Im wrong in some apps...let us know what you do or think about this Winking_Face .

if you are still on android 6 marshmallow. unfortunately there isn't a way to block a contact unless you use an app , you can search one at Google Play Store.

Android 7 Nougat does have a blocking feature, dialer app>3dots>settings>block numbers

The only thing you can do (without an app) is to send all calls of that contact to voicemail (edit contact > 3 dots > all calls to voicemail). No voicemail setup, no voice messages from that contact. I think you will eventually get only the sms. Hope this helps in some way.

Yes, all of the security apps will require you to buy a licence of some sort. Most have a trial period for a month. Then most of the main features get locked.
