Xperia X Compact with Android 7.1 factory default

I just got my Xperia X Compact (new one), I was very surprised to see that it comes with Android 7.1, as it was supposed to be an Android 6 smartphone (upgradable to 7 or 8).

Is Sony releasing Xperia X Compact with Android 7.1 or perhaps someone interfered with the phone before I got it onto my hands?

New X Compacts are shipped with 7.1.  (at least mine did.... one month ago).  As a matter of fact, I'm reading now that Andorid 8 is rolling out for the X Compact.

Hi @juliob, welcome to our forum and congratulations on your new Xperia X Compact!

As far as I know, it depends on which Android version was available when the device was sent from the factory, and in your case it seems that it was produced after Android 7.1 was released for the X Compact!

@ieubts, thank you for conforming this and yes, the roll out for Android 8.0 has begun for the Xperia X Compact, however all devices do not receive the update at the same time, so you will need to wait until you have a notification that tells you that you have a new update to install!
