Sorry, but NO kudos to saving to internal and then moving to the SD card. This should be a transparent process for the user.

Sony Spain is telling me to use a software, Sony Xperia Companion, "to repair the software". That process will delete the internal memory bla bla bla, and if it doesn't work, I have to send my phone in for repairs.

This is absolutely unacceptable. MANY years ago (over 10), Samsung told me to reset the phone to factory when I complained about contacts not synchronizing well with the computer, and same thing HTC said when the a phone was working slow (it turns out the HTC One M7 can't handle Android encryption, but it works quite well four years later without encryption).

This is the EASY thing to say, which is a total hassle for users, and won't solve anything. Since most users are not willing to go through this process, then they can wash their hands and tell them it's their fault for not following their directions.

This is OBVIOUSLY a firmware problem. Solve it and push the update!

I came here to find out about the same problem

It's not consistent but it happens very often.

I will record a video and then when I stop recording the phone icon becomes "busy", keeps going around in circles. Eventually the phone times out and I can get back to the home screen.

But when I activate the camera app again, it claims that the camera is busy and in use by another app.

The video is saved incorrectly and simply comes up with an error when I try to view it.

I have tried this with an older SD card (class 10) and then replaced it with another (Lexar Class 10, 633x card).

Also I have an issue reading from the card during music playback.

This is not something I've had with my previous 3-4 Sony phones. There is a clear error here.

Also I've completely reset my phone to factory settings and formatted the SD card in the phone.
This did not fix the error.

New

I think it is because of latest update - I'm pretty sure of that. I got this phone for six months and everything was perfect untill the latest 7.1 update. Things like not saving video recordings didn't happen. The same as low battery life and getting warmer comes with new 7.1 update. I think it's because new phone (xz1 compact) arrived so they want us to buy new one Face_with_stuck-out_Tongue All companies do this - even apple and samsung Slightly_smiling_Face So go and get new Xperia XZ1 compact and after year change it for xperia xz2 compact 😄

So, whether it is necessary to wait for correction of the given problem in the nearest release of the firmware. And at the expense of increasing the volume of sound in video recordings and fixing problems with notifications during video recording.

There is any chance that this problem is solved by last update (34.3.A.0.228)?

Hi

No, it's still the same problem.

Problem only with video and recording not with photos.

I have switch from sd to internal storage and seems the problem is solved.

I'm not sure, maybe my sd(Samsung EVO Scheda MicroSDXC da 64 GB, UHS-I Grade 1, Class 10) buy the end of may is not compatible? Anyway doesn't seem corrupted...

Now I use DSC RENAME app to rename e move photo and video in sd card.

same problem here.

Got the same response from the helpdesk in the Netherlands. but they did not have a solution.

Seems to be a firmware bug or photo app bug. not initialized variable ..?

Other temporal solution :

starting up in save mode ( holding shutdown tab for a second or two)

In safe mode still not working but then, after restarting ( reboot) it works again for a while..

One thing  I noticed. If you start the photo app, and it starts up in video mode you get the problem.

Happened to me too

I can take a video but when taking a longer video (more than a few seconds), when saving it just shows the loading circle forever and blocks all the UI

If I find a way to bypass that blocked screen, the file showes black thumbnail and doesn't play
