Picture-in-picture does not work

Hello. In the new update 34.4.A.0.364 the new Picture-in-Picture function does not work. How to fix this or it is an update bug?

@Zanor, that's great to hear. :smileysmileythumbsup: To the best of my knowledge you need Youtube Red to use the Picture-in-Picture feature.

For Chrome it should work, just make sure that you are viewing the video in question in full screen before you tap the home button.

Let me know if you get it to work! Slightly_smiling_Face

Try with Maps(Navigation). Open Google Maps put destination and start Navigation. Then press home button and you will get PIP screen.

Only few apps support PIP currently.

Hi @Zanor,

I'm sorry to hear this.

Like @ppgsk17 pointed out, not all apps support the Picture-in-Picture feature. Try enabling the navigation feature in Google Maps then press the home button and you should still see the navigation window on your home screen.

You can disabled and enable Picture-in-Picture for the apps that support it if you:

  1. In Settings, tap Apps & Notifications > Advanced.
  2. Tap Special Access, then find and tap Picture-in-Picture.
  3. In the list of applications, tap the application that you want to disable Picture-in-Picture for.
  4. To disable/enable Picture-in-Picture, tap the slider beside Allow picture-in-picture.

Keep us posted how it goes! Slightly_smiling_Face

Google Chrome does not work correctly, it tried to start PiP, but as you can see it did not work outScreenshot_20180206-173736.png

I see @Zanor, could you try with several different videos to see if you still experience the same behavior.

Could you also check that you have the latest version of the Chrome app installed. You can do this by going to the Google Chrome page in Google Play Store then tap the update button. If there is no update button you already have the latest version installed.

If it still doesn't work as intended I recommend that you reboot your device to safe mode to see if this behavior is cause by one of your downloaded apps as these will be temporarily disabled in this mode.

Keep me posted how it goes!
