Updated my phone to Oreo on Thursday. Since then my phone is stuck in an infinite start up cycle. Android start up to Sony start up. Over and over again... I've tried holding volume up and the power button with no success. What can I do?
I'd suggest that you perform a software repair using Xperia Companion. This will do a clean installation of the latest firmware and will also wipe your internal memory. Since your phone is stuck in a boot loop, then, unfortunately, you'll lose any data stored in the internal memory.

@Quester Thank you for the advice, I've done exactly that. Took a mere 5 hours - but it worked. Just a shame it ever happened. Thank you anyway!
Question:
Could it be that your battery was low during updating?
Or maybe low on memory?
It would be interestig for others, not in the least Sony developers, to get a grip on such events.
I agree always a good idea to learn if there was a reason for the mishap so it can be avoid by yourself and others in the future. Glad you sorted it out but oh boy I bet that was a long five hours.
@Strampke Hi, yeah it was fully charged. In fact it was upon being fully charged that the light suddenly turned red and began to reset over and over. I tend to transfer all of my data over to the memory card every now and again so I'm hoping that didn't cause it either. Tis' but a mystery! But thank you kindly for the suggestion!
@Andy_g2 Haha yes it was certainly the longest and most tense five hours of my life! Thank you, hopefully it won't happen again.
