Hi,
I have a problem regarding the voice seach function of the Google app on m Xperia Z5 compact.
When I perform a voice search by either pushing the microphone icon on the widget or saying "Ok, Google", the phone vibrates and asks me to start speaking but I get now notification sound from the speaker.
When I use the app with headphones, I get the sound without any problem.
I have tried to remove cache for the app, reinstall it and check settings and all three volume settings.
Anyone experince anything similar and have a solution? Or redirect me to wherever I can get help?
Thanks!

Hi @dskio, welcome to our community!
I tested this on a few different phones just like @nolramlb did and I experienced the same behaviour. There is no sound only vibration when not having a headset connected to the phone.
I uninstalled the updates for the Google now application and when it's not updated I receive sound when I say "Ok Google" and a headset is not connected to the phone.
To uninstall updates for the application go to Settings > Apps > Google App > 3 dots > Uninstall updates.
Can you hear the sound from the speaker now?
Let us know how it went!
well I tried with my Xperia Z5 Compact, and got the same results ( I also tried with X and XZ)
this must be how it is supposed to work.
the sound is just present on the headphones just to let you know that google now is activated and is ready to listen,. you don't need the sound prompt when looking at the screen .
if you need more information, I suggest you contact google now devs since this not sony's app

Hi,
Thanks both of you for the help.
I used to have the notification sound on another Android device (Motorole moto G3) but when I switched over to my Z5 compact the sound was gone.
Uninstalling the updates brought back the sound. So this is a feature for the latest app version I guess. I will go to the support forum for the google app to share my thoughts on this.
No problem at all!
