Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a way to block anonymous callers without 3rd party apps?
I was hoping that with Oreo that option would be available but i can only block callers that do not hide their phone number. It seems ridiculous that such a basic feature does not seem to be available even in Oreo while other brands have it for quite some time. If Sony phone app can block specific numbers it should be able to block callers that omit their number (kinda seems like a UI bug).
Note: currently using Blockade app as a work around (it works most of the times)
Not sure if it works but I just go to my call list, long press a number that has called and a little drop down menu pops ups, there is an option in the drop down to block that number,
I've not had any anon callers in ages so I can't try on that.
To block anonymous callers you have to address your ISP.
They are able to find out who is annoying you.
Just write down date and time of the callers and they will help you.
I tried that and they mentioned to install an app to block those kinds of calls or as a last resource i can file a complaint with the police and then the ISP can block that specific number (which i cannot access) and play a message to them saying they are being monitored by law enforcement.
I just wished that we could do that with the built in phone app since it seems such a basic feature. If we can block a specific number with the built in app then we should be able to block unidentified numbers (there should be a keyword or number to add unidentified numbers to the list of blocked callers).
As for third party apps, i don't feel confortable with most of them because they require all sorts of permissions to access data on my phone. Blockade was the only one i found that did not seem too intrusive (seems to be made just for this purpose).
So far i have had the patience to endure this crap because most of the calls get blocked by blockade.
Thanks for the input. Sorry for the rant.
Best regards
