Hi Guys,
Anyone facing this issue? I use Nougat 7.0 before. Since I upgrade to Nougat 7.1.1, the battery life is worse.
Hi,
I just created an account to reply in this thread specifically.
I'm a happy user of Xperia z3 compact since release (nearly 3 years) and this phone is a beast.
I recently got X Performance and... after 2 days i'm trying to return it. When i saw my phone losing battery at the astonishing rate (especially phone idle!) and then I saw this thread... i said no way im going to use it.
I hope the shop will get me the money back as I'm switching to something else than sony. Unless they release a new Xperia Compact with badass battery and nice. slim body.
I swear these updates are trying to get users to get new phones. It's ridiculous. I witness battery drains for two days so far. I went to work from my commute and phone dropped to 55% from having it in my pocket.
Hi,
I noticed that under the memory, Android OS is taking lots of memory.
Restarting helps. But it is not the root cause.
So, i disabled to fix it by going to
Settings > About phone > Usage info settings > unchecked it!
I suspect this is using system memory aka RAM and causes the issue.
Try it and see if it helps!
Same problems for me with 7.1.1
All was well with 7.0(i mean not much good, just no complaints).
& was very excited to get the 7.1.1 update before everyone else....
But after using it for a while now..the battery life is terrible.
Gets very hot when using navigation apps & as a result phone hangs, performs slow, Gps connectivity loss, sudden reboots..etc..
Please Sony make a fix for this...
I've tried disabling Movie creator app & entering safemode(as per Sony's comment on similar Z5 issues) , but no success...
I've had three system updates lately but still says 7.1.1. i am staying overnight at friend's and didn't bring charger. I put into airplane mode before bed. Was 42%. Got up now looked at battery. 42%. Zero battery drain in 7 hours. So something goes rogue with the radios when airplane off and I'm kinda thinking it's a Google thing not a Sony thing
After the 41.2.A.7.8-R3D(7.1.1)update, the standby time om my Xperia Performance was reduced from approx. 350 hours (using about 0,3 % per hour) to 10 hours, using about 10% of battery pr. hour. The batter usage in standby is 35 times higher than before the update. The phone is getting hot in my pocket and is useless. The problem occurs when my phone is on a 3G network, with no Wi-Fi coverage. When the Phone is on 4G and on 2G there is no problems. There is no problem when the phone has 3G coverage and Wi-Fi connection. The problem is not related to poor coverage, because I have the same problem when I am very close to a base station.
I have done all the basic trouble shooting, factory reset, turned location service off.
Sony must have forgotten to test the combination with 3G only and Wi-Fi off during the latest update.
I have very poor 4G coverage in the area where I live, and my provider (Telia) has disabled VoLTE. Because of that, I have turned of 4G and have configured my phone to automatically switch between 2G and 3G.
The error is easily identified by the “Better Battery Stats” APP. It says that the RILJ (Java Radio Interface Layer) is constantly creating wakelock’s, preventing the main (App) processor, to go to sleep. Now, the phone has over 50000 RILJ wakelock’s for one night.
On devices like the Xperia, there is one App processor and one baseband processor. The App processor is running the Android operations system and the applications. The baseband processor runs its own realtime OS and handles radio communication. The RILJ is a software component that handles communication with the baseband processor. I suspect that after the latest update, there is a software error constantly creating interrupts, preventing the main processor to go to sleep, thus draining the battery. During OTA updates, the baseband OS and the Android OS could be updated.
My problem, is that Sony support only tells me to ship the phone to the closest repair center, and have it repaired. The repair center would only do a reflash and a standard test procedure, and send it back, saying the phone is ok. I will then be without a phone for a mouth.
41.2.A.7.53-R3D RILJ Failure
41.2.A.7.35-R3D RILJ Failure
41.2.A.7.8-R3D RILJ Failure
41.2.A.2.223-R3D Good
I hope all these issues are fixed in Oreo update.
I found the soultion to my drain problem. Vodafone App was the problem. Factory Reset your mobile without using the Backup of the Apps ....... install App by App and check the Stamina - number of hours ..... u will then determine which App has the problem with the Android 7.1.
Mine was Vodafone ..... I installed it the number of hours dropped from 16 h to 5 h !!!!! ... removed Vodfone App .. number of battery hours went up to 15h .......
Now i have Oreo. Problem became bigger
